Bio and Links
Bio Photo We live in Central NH. Our family (and friends) graves are located primarily all over New England and we're trying to locate as many as we can in an effort to complete family history and to honor their respective memories.

We are especially interested in the families whose ancestors were citizens of Durham, Maine. Many thanks to all the contributors who have helped us locate photos and link family members inside the memorials.

That search fostered another into the Kenneson branch of the family, with roots in Aroostook County, Maine. Happily, FAG was the vehicle for meeting a family cousin and fellow contributor, Geno42, who has very generously shared volumes of family history and some delightful photos.

Along the way, whenever we visit a cemetery for any reason, we try to take pictures and add to the memorials in the collective data base.

RE: Hiram and Sarah Allard at Snowville
In long post about Hiram & Hiram B., I have a typo. Just for clarification, would not want to further confuse this family.

Hiram B. Allard was the son of Job Allard (not Job Durgin - oops - sorry) and Susannah Durgin.

RE: Hiram and Sarah Allard at Snowville
Have not fully researched this branch of the Allard family. Was interested in Hiram B. Allard, b. 1805, because his mother was a Durgin.

Did some quick look-ups for Hiram Allard b. abt 1821.

Hiram Allard, b. abt 1821, was living with his parents Henry Allard, age 61 & Sarah, age 61 in 1850 Census.

Hiram's sister Hannah was with husband, John Drown in 1855 MA State Census; she is living with brother Almon in 1860 MA Census; her MA VR DC gives parents as Henry Allard & Sarah Glines

Hiram's brother Almon B.'s MA VR DC gives parents as Henry Allard & Sarah Gline.

Hiram's brother Thomas was living in MA with Almon's family in 1880 MA Census. He may be the one who mrd 24 Dec 1850, Lewiston, Androscoggin, ME, Philena F. Merrill (ME Mrgs 1771-1904). No parents name on mrg record. Thomas & Philena show up in a variety of censuses.

Linda Walls posted at findagrave for Eaton Center Cemetery, with photo of shared stone.

Henry Allard # 36165802
Sarah Glines Allard #36165814

Look at these two records for Linda's notes. I have not contacted Linda about these records, because I have not thoroughly researched this branch of the Allards.

I know it will shake up a few trees.
The records sure look like it should be laid out the way I am suggesting.

Take your time. Digest it. Check it. If you agree, do your best to make it right.

Sorry for any confusion.

RE: Hiram and Sarah Allard at Snowville
If you are willing to send me your phone number, and a good time to call - it might be easier to discuss it then trying to explain it here. I am not critizing your work. It is greatly appreciated. Appearances can be deceiving and I'm just trying to find a way to stop this error from being further repeated.

Sorry, here's a second attempt.

There are two Hiram Allard's in Eaton, NH. Hiram B. Allard is approx. 16 yrs older than Hiram Allard.

They have different fathers, spouses and children. Hiram B. dies before Hiram. Hiram B.'s wife Eliza (Leavitt)dies before Hiram's wife Sarah Elizabeth (Davis). Hiram B. is living with his son after the death of Eliza (Leavitt), while Hiram & Sarah E./Elizabeth S. are living together.

The Big problem is the gravestone. It is engraved with Hiram Allard - but has the b. & d. dates for Hiram B. Allard. The stone is shared with the wife or Hiram - Sarah Elizabeth Davis.

Whoever had the "newer" stone made for Hiram Allard & Sarah Elizabeth Davis, used the wrong dates. Do not know how or why.

I know you cannot change the stone - but maybe add a note to the memorial page showing how they are not his dates. Showing that there are two Hiram's. It would be a big posting, but posting the VRs and the census, should show the problem.

Additional problem - that can't be fixed:
Malvesta, Nancy, Compiler, Eaton, New Hampshire, Cemetery Record, with Genealogical Background Material: Snowville Cemetery, Snowville, NH. Hiram B., 1805 - 8-18-1887, son of Job Allard & Susannah (Durgin), husband of Sarah E. (Davis) (Sarah E. (Davis) as wife appears to be an error in this publication.)

This mistake is being repeated by many. The records show they are not the same person and that the dates are incorrect on the stone that you took a photo of. The book carried on with the error, probably based on what the stone says.

RE: Emma J Ladd
The reason i asked is that the records i have found so far point that they were in Kasota, Le Sueur, Minnesota, USA during that time. maybe the the children were not, only the parents. I'm only about 50% done with my research so i should have more information in a few months. Thanks.

duplicates
you might want to take a look at your memorials in your cemeteries to make sure they haven't been duplicated...about 100,000 have been uploaded recently in Maine...working on mine now as well as other corrections I've noticed..have a nice new year
