Bio Photo Born in Clarke County, raised in Monroe, entered Uncle Sam's Navy 1963. Retired USN, Quartermaster, E7, CPO. I was a tugboat Captain for the last 6 years in Uncle Sam's Navy Stationed at New London CT., submarine Base. Returned to Jawja, settled in Athens. Worked in the automotive industry until 3 yrs ago, retired and now enjoying thinking of what kind of mischief I can get into next
I mainly search the Family tree of Hooten's and Tarpley's which center in Henry County and Gwinnett County.
I enjoy riding the motorcycle and Find A Grave gives me a great excuse to saddle up and ride. I enjoy woodworking and doing my best to really screw up the assembly of a good model plane (Mostly WWII aircraft plastic 1:48 scale)

About Carl
Hi Ed. I heard about Carl through Howard and Janet Smith. He was a great friend and I will miss him. How are you doing? I will never forget how Carl and you helped me find my family's cemetery and met me there when I could get there.

I hope you're doing well and that you can take care of the memorials Carl managed. He was a great man and loved this Find a Grave work. What a great contribution he made.

Please keep in touch when you have time. I'll be trying to get back to Oglethorpe County as soon as possible.

You are much appreciated by me and my family. Thanks for all you do as a friend and as a volunteer for Find a Grave.

Have a blessed Easter.
Joy

I'm so sorry that you lost your buddy and that Beverly lost her best friend. Will be thinking about you both - during this difficult time. Hugs! Nancy

RE: Carl's Passing
I was so sad to hear of his passing. Would it be possible for you to transfer the ones from Evergreen in Athens - to me? I have been working on that cemetery and my Maternal Grandparents were the founders of it. Thanks, Nancy

Hooten and Thaxton
Dear Hoot,

Looks like I have some Hooten's in my family tree. Very distant but on my Thaxton side. Do you know any Thaxton's?

RE: Duplicates
Dear Hoot,

Thank you so much for letting me know about my duplication, not sure how that happened, but I've fixed it.

"Good morning Miss Kate,(HOOT) Hooten here, 47100978. I'been doing a lot of photos at Carter's Cem. and you and I have a duplicate there. #93131142 Evelyn Nash you did not photo but #93131195 Evelyn Nash you did. I had a trip to Augusta and was passing Carter's on the was back to Athens so I ran a list of burials with no photos, was 140+ so thought I try to get as many of those as I could.
Good Hunting. HOOT"

Sincerely,

Kate
