Bio Photo 9/13/2011 Well it is a sad day at my house. My cemetery buddy is now herding cows in Heaven. She passed away in my arms with my voice being the last she heard. She was my best friend, my grave marker and the best cemetery hopping buddy that any one could have. She will be missed. (tear)
Rest In Peace, Sweetie!

My Daddy dug graves for the City of West Plains, Missouri for many years and he has passed his love of cemeteries on to me. I just love to walk cemeteries, and Sweetie goes with me!
If you see any info that is not correct, or you would like changed, please let me know. I try to get things right, but sometimes I mess up!

Vernon Oakes
Dang mispelled Vernon. It is Vernon Oakes. Sorry about that finger don't work too well in the winter, (maybe the spelling part of the brain, either).

Veron Oakes
I believe that you have 2 listing for Veron Oakes, son of Phillip Oakes #30457676 and #30457674. The DOB and DOD are unknown on both. Thank you for the cemetery time you put in. Patie Weaver #46839880

Hi Virginia, just checked to see if i could find the collection of photos I told you about. I've not been able to locate them but will look again tomorrow. Sorry about that. I'll let you know. Thanks, Karen

I found the connection. I have ties to Wilma's side. Actually, to her first husband, John Emil Fixmer. A number of years ago, the family sent me some things to photo for my records. I have a copy of the following; an identification card with his photo when he worked for Ottumwa Iron Works and his memorial from the funeral with his obit. Sorry it took so long. If you don't have any of these, I would be glad to send copies. I also have a marriage certificate for him and Letta J Davis Ernest from 18 Feb 1934, if you're interested, and his WWI draft certificate. Thanks, Karen

RE: Anderson Spilman picture
You know, that's a good question. I will research your question and hopefully get back to you soon. My Aunt, Grace Hildy Croft, compiled over 17 family history books and I'll need to go through them until I find the photo. As I am a family history consultant for our area, I have several appointments to help a number of people with their FH. This week is scheduled heavily, so please give me until next week to get to the books. Will that work for you? I, too, love to roam through cemeteries, as I traveled through the mid-west with my dad, taking photos for my aunt, his sister, for her books. Again, thanks for contacting me. Karen

Surrounded Hill Cemetery
Virginia, I saw where you had questions about Surrounded Hill Cemetery and said you had great-grand parents buried there. I have family there also and have been to the Cemetery. It has been abandoned but a small part of it is fenced in by hwy. 14 at Surrounded Hill between Oil Trough and Newport Ar.but the rest of it is behind the farm equipment building and in a grown up cow pasture area. We went in the grown up part and found my great-grandpa's older brother's tome stone and his wife's. It was broken in half and propped up against a tree. This was James and Rebecca Jackson. She remarried a couple of times after his death.
