Find a Grave is a virtual search tool to find marker information for final resting places. I reserve the biography area for life sketches and essential clarification - not census results, etc. If you have a whole genealogy, there are other programs such as Ancestry, FamilySearch, and personal databases to build your tree and post your findings. Family relationship memorials in Find a Grave are established through individually created memorials that are linked which will show their basic information as well.

"Since the move to Ancestry and the new website, newspaper obituaries, death certificates, and other scanned documentation are allowed. We encourage members to move the images down to the bottom of the photo display so that they are not the first thing you see when viewing a memorial page. Thank you, Find a Grave Administration."

When adding a photo or document there is a button that says grave, person, family, or other. Please use the appropriate button.

Please check and see who the contributor is on a photo before asking me to remove it. I can't remove someone's volunteer photo. So, you will need to contact the person who put the wrong or duplicate photo on the memorial to be deleted. If there is already a photo of the headstone, please do not post another. Repetition is not necessary. Let's leave space for family photos.

The photos posted for some memorials will outlast the markers. Please crop your shoes out of the picture when you are standing over a flat headstone. Also take care when photographing upright stones, that your reflection is not staring back. Many markers are deteriorating through damage, wear, or sandstone materials. Your extra care in the composition and technique of the photograph adds historical value to these memorials.
