I've always had interest in old cemeteries. As a young girl I had recorded all the names in a local cemetery into a notebook. I assumed it was thrown away, when I moved from home. Since then, my military & family life had taken up most of my time. Now that I'm retired, genealogy research led me to FAG and now another interest had taken over my life, just kidding. I belong to a local historical association and one of our duties were to record all the names in our parish's cemeteries. I have so many interests/hobbies there's not enough time in the day it seems like.|

|Peachy Pringle||RE: McIntyre - Ponchatoula Cemetery|
I have never been to the Carter Cemetery in Springfield. I bet there are some interesting people buried there.
Every Fall, my husband and I pick a cemetery that needs updating and polished and we try to photograph it before the grass turns brown. We seldom get that done and so we have to finish in the Spring - but that's nice too as one can sometimes get the cemetery flowers (camellias and azaleas) in the photos with the tombstones.
We did Arcola-Roseland; some very interesting people are buried there; a number of people in unmarked graves. It worries me that they are now burying new people in the old historic part of the cemetery which one would have presumed full - if not all had stones.
Then we did Mulberry Street Cemetery in Amite. We had that at 100% photographed, very briefly. But then they buried some new folks, and now we are down to 98%.
We did Amite Memorial Gardens which had been fairly well listed, but just need updating and photographed. We never could get that one past 94%.
We did Garden of the Pines in Covington. Weird cemetery - they knowingly bury two or three people on top of each other in the same grave; and the enclosed mausoleum smells even in January.
We have noticed that often request at Ponchatoula are going months without being fulfilled, and photographers are having to walk the whole cemetery for each request. Ponchatoula was listed on Find-A-Grave as having 2037 residents - 77% photographed. "We can fix that." we said. (famous last words). We now estimate that there are over 4000 people buried there; at 200 photos per week - thats 5 months - we will be working on that in 2016.
ANYHOW, I still remember where the McIntyres are if you have any special request.
If you go to Ponchatoula yourself - poke the flowers with a long stick before you touch them - they have a moderate yellow-jacket-wasp problem.

Please give me complete names and state or county. What dates?
|Faye||RE: David Connell|
Judie, I removed the photo that I added to David Connell's memorial and posted it again to be sure it is posted as a photo not a grave. I did not posted the other photo's, they were posted by his sister and her husband. Thanks, Faye

|Bartus József||Őszinte részvétem.|
Louis Bartus apai nagybáttyám volt. Sajnos éveken át kerestem és nem sikerült felvennem vele a kapcsolatot. Most megláttam, hogy meghalt. |Gordon Bradberry||RE: Bradberry in GI Cemetery|
Thanks Judie. I will contact Cinthia.
|Gordon Bradberry||Grand Isle Cem|
Thanks for all of your hard work on the Grand Isle Cemetary. Being a native, I especially appreciate it. I tried to edit one of the transcriptions unsuccessfully. Phillip L. Bradberry Sr. The info regarding his parents is incorrect. The parents of Phillip L. Bradberry Sr. is Howard John Bradberry and Marie Theonie Verdon.
Phillip was my uncle and he was one of twelve siblings.
|Christina Feyen||RE: Hoffman Cemetery|
Thanks for noticing! I do apologize, that's my mistake for taking pictures on my phone, getting chased by snakes, rain, or just dodging the bright Sun glare. But honestly I'd prefer a crooked picture just to have somewhere on record than never taken in the first place. If I get a chance I will retake them, I wouldn't mine going back. :)
