Bio and Links
Bio Photo Although my degree is in computer science and a member of the National Honor Society, I have a deep love for genealogy and have been doing it for about 20 years. Currently reside in Pike County GA, and we have compiled and maintain the most comprehensive cemetery and grave list in the county. Feel free to contact me for that info.

Researching into my paternal side from Georgia: Johnson from Bryan and Screven Counties, HODGES from Screven County, COLSON from Screven) and STRANGE, MOODY, J. B FERGUSON line in Screven, Effingham, Chatham, GA and Barnwell, Beaufort, SC.

On my maternal side I am researching SMITH, HOUSE, PARSONS, ROBINSON, WILLIAM, OSBORN, and McKINNEY from Clay county AL area, and HOUSE in Lagrange GA area, CRUMBLEY of Clayton Co, GA.

Currently I am focusing on the ancestry of Wm. J. G. HODGES, 1840-1905 born, raised and buried with his family in in the same cemetery in Screven County, North Newington Baptist Church Cemetery. I have his parents as William and Mary COLSON HODGES. Found in the 1850 census at 11 years old with his g-mother, Morning SHEPPARD. But I am starting to wonder about that.

I have a little saying I sort of made up: A TRUE GENEALOGIST is open minded, a stickler for accuracy and documentation, does not force the pieces to fit, but curious about where this wonderful path leads.

I really like to acknowledge my late cousin, William Bill" REEVES a TRUE GENEALOGIST, of NC for his help in a number of areas and thank him and publicly for using and acknowledging my contribution (the JOHNSON/AUSTIN line of Screven) to his work. I really miss talking to Bill and sharing information.

R.A. Hancock Family

Just an update to your information on the R.A. Hancock family. Frank is indeed the 4th child and Yvonne is actually the 6th and first girl of their 12 children. There were 7 boys and 5 girls. There are currently 5 of the 12 still living. I hope this is of interest.

RE: Thanks!

I'm afraid I wasn't to much help, only had his obit to go on. But I am glad Ally was able to locate his grave site. I did tell her, Bonaventure needs to be notified of his burial site because they had absolutely no record, however I would leave that up to you guys. I am originally from GA, but live in FL, so its not quite so convenient for me to go by the office.

Glad it was resolved and the little guy is now in the right cemetery.

Hope you have a great day and thank you for all you do for Find A Grave!

John Ferguson 1971-1975
Are there any other relatives buried in Bonaventure, Greenwich, or Laurel Grove North? Looked here and could not find anything on little John.

Asking about other relatives because maybe there may be a chance he could show up in another family lot but is not listed for whatever reason. I have seen it happen so I am not ruling it out.

Ferguson @ Bonaventure
I won't be able to get out there until tomorrow, I usually don't wait so long but I just started a new job.

RE: may be kin to the person you seek.
I think that William Harris Johnson's dad was James E. Johnson but not really sure. I do not know what his mom's name is. His children do not remember either. His wife Janie Edwards Johnson's mom and dad are Lonnie and Lelia Edwards and that is as far as I can go back on that side. I do know somehow I am assuming on my grandmother's side we are related to the Counts and Head family also buried in Union Cemetary. You also told me that we are related on My mother's side of the family that we are cousins. My great Grandfather was Joseph Soloman Ferguson and Great Grandma is Carrie Proctor Ferguson.

Rodney, Thx so much for setting up my relatives, the MOTES family in River Hill Cemetery. I am currently working on their mother's memorial in Florida. Her obit listed THREE girls, Barbara Susan, Nancy Jean & Cynthia Kay. I see two of the three children set up but unable to locate the third. Nancy Jean & Cynthia Kay motes were set up but the plot photo shows THREE graves. The child on the far left is not listed. Can you identify the third child or locate Barbara Susan MOTES;s grave in that cemetery?
I would love to manage them, update their birth and death locations, and connect them to their parents, each other as well as to their grandparents.

Thanks so much in advance,

The three graves in the picture are: L-R Mary Frances Motes, Nancy Jean Motes and Cythia Kay Motes. Mary's mother is Ruby Hutchison Motes per her headstone.

I will transfer Nancy & Cynthia Kay to you for your keeping. If there are more memorials you wish for me to transfer please let me know.

Best of luck in your research.

I am researching my wife's paternal side. Her GG grandfather was Benjamin A Hodges, whom I believe was your great grandfather's brother. I have very little information on him, and would deeply appreciate any help you could provide. Please email me at

Thank You
