Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been a genealogist for 20 years now. I love local and family history, cemeteries and helping others locate information about their family history. I helped organize the genealogy society in Chesterfield County in 1998 with the main goal in mind that the future members would help clean and care for the abandoned cemeteries there. We cleaned a couple in the beginning and then we became so preoccupied with the duties and responsibilities of the society that we did not have time for the original goal. Go figure!

I continued to be concerned about the preservation of the markers that do still exist in Chesterfield County and knew that I could never take care of all of them myself. Then I found out about Find A Grave through a friend, Jim Rogers, of Florida. Now my goal is to focus my efforts of preserving gravestones AND helping others locate their family burial grounds by photographing as many tombstones as possible and adding them to this website. Thanks Jim Rogers

and a BIG Thank You to you guys that started Find a Grave and to all those wonderful volunteers that contribute to Find A Grave! You guys are THE BEST!!

If you find mistakes in the gravestone information that I have submitted, PLEASE let me know, so that I can make the necessary corrections.

If anyone would like to capture and use my church, cemetery or gravestone photos for ancestral research purposes, that is fine with me.

I have never cleaned a gravestone. I have only cleared my own family cemeteries of excess vegetation and debris. Also, I have NEVER used chalk, shaving cream, flour, baby powder or any other substance to mark or improve the ability to read a gravestone NOR do I approve of any of these measures. I simply photograph gravestones, usually of entire cemeteries, then enter them into the Find A Grave database. In some cases I will try to do a simple search for more information if this is lacking. I do not feel obligated to research the individuals entirely as this should be something for the family of the individuals to do. I simply wish to preserve the cemeteries and gravestones by photographing them as they are and entering them into the Find A Grave database. I do more extensive research on my own family lines, but I enter that informaton into databases created specifically for family research. I also do not feel obligated to flower each and every memorial I create as I firmly believe that caring enough to take the time and other necessary resources to create the memorial is what matters the most.

On behalf of Mom (Marie Gulledge Wiggins) and everyone who may look at her memorial page: Thank you! I had never seen a page without the ads before. Amazing the difference.

Such a kind thing for you to do, Sharon.

RE: Thank you!
You're welcome. I really believe people don't realize the damage such measures cause to the stones. I hope I was tactful. I didn't want to come across as being heavy-handed or over-bearing. Let's hope she takes it well and does the right thing.

p.s., I used to live in Charleston (Mt. Pleasant), my youngest was born there and I do miss it.

Take care & happy graving,

Emily

RE: Nancy Lucinda Sinclair Redfearn
Hi Sharon, I would love to manage Nancy's Find A Grave. She is my GGG Grandmother. I have been seeking my heritage where ever they are and was very pleased to find Thomas and Nancy. I like to sponsor all my family. Haven't found any of the Sinclair family yet but I keep looking. Thanks for all the entries into Find A Grave. I know how much time it takes to do it right.

Baruch family at Flushing Cemetery
Hi, Sharon

Thank you very much for sponsoring the memorial pages of the Baruch family at Flushing Cemetery. I have upgraded the pages, adding family links, birth and death places, and improved photos. I can understand your interest in Bernard Baruch since you probably live near Hobcaw Barony in Georgetown, SC where Bernard and his family had many pleasant times. I live a few miles from Flushing Cemetery, and I would like to know the connection between the Baruch family and Flushing. So many of his family members are buried there!
