Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am Dave Backus, I co-own the Backus Family History web site. I live in Elmira Heights, New York.
I am researching my main branches, Backus, Lattin, Southard, Bailey, Dana, Strong, Cross, Switzer, plus many more branches of my family. Most are from Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Pennsylvania, but family is scattered thru out the United States and Canada.
You have my permission to use any GRAVESTONE PICTURE taken by me for private uses. For public use, you may use them as long as I am given credit. For commercial use, please contact me. ANY OTHER PHOTOS MAY NOT be used without WRITTEN permission on ANY SITE!
I have been doing genealogy since 2003. I enjoy walking thru the cemeteries and taking photos of the real old stones, wanting to preserve them, because someday they will be gone or unreadable. I will do transfers outside of the FAG guidelines, as long as I am not related to the person in the memorial.

William Porter

I am the Historian for the Ohio Mayflower Society working on an application for a descendant of William Porter (memorial 95723440). Can you tell me what evidence you have that he was born in New Hampshire? My applicant is showing that he was born in Braintree, MA in 1750. I don't want to take his money for an application fee if there is a question about William's lineage.

I can find where he ran but not where he won the election. If you can prove he was a US Rep, he can earn the famous status on Find A Grave. If so you can write a bio for him that is written in the way Find A Grave wants it and then you will earn a bio link.

I appreciate you asking if you could use the photo. I would prefer the photo not be place on any other website. I have no problem with the photo being copied and used in personal files but do not want it republished on the internet. Feel free to request a new photo and possibly another volunteer will be happy to take one they don't mind you using. DO say in the request that you want it for republishing on another site so that the volunteer knows what you want ahead of time. We do have people in the area who do take photos in this situation. I would also say on the request that you are aware there is already a photo and to please not delete your request. Some people like to do so if a picture already exists. Good luck and again thank you for asking.
