Bio Photo Updated January 27, 2016

Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (ALNC)
, Elwood, Will Co., Illinois...

The following lists the active burial sections at ALNC. These sections were opened for interments on the dates listed...

Active section(s) for Cremated Remains:
1) Section 11, opened October 2012
2) Section 12, opened October 2012
3) Columbarium 7 Wall 20, opened January 2016

Active section(s) for Casketed Remains:
1) Section 15, opened May 2015
2) Section 16, opened November 2015

When the above gravesites are made presentable with sod and engraved marker stones or niche covers, I'll upload gravesite photographs for these Sections without the need for photo requests.

Note: Please refrain from requesting a photograph until after the professional grounds-keepers have had time to engrave and install marker stones (or niche covers), lay sod, and generally make the gravesites presentable. If I have not uploaded a photo by the 4-month mark, please do request a photo.

November 2015 - The staff has spent the last two summers working diligently to level and re-sod most of the cemetery. This includes raising the height and leveling thousands of marker stones, then removing the old grass/weeds and their root systems, leveling the ground with new black dirt and laying sod. The sod will need watered for a couple of weeks before it is ready for photographing.

Re-sodding of Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 is complete. The re-soding crews are taking a winter break.

Thank you for your patience.

Read This BEFORE Uploading Photos...

I shouldn't have to ask, however, with the rapid proliferation of "cell-phone photography" it has become necessary for me put in text what I think should be obvious...

Please do NOT upload gravesite photographs if they...
1) were taken at an impossible angle,
2) show bird poop on the stone,
3) have spiders, other insects in the frame,
4) have grass clippings, mud or debris on the stone,
5) have your shadow or your car in the frame,
6) have people, pets or other crap in the background,
7) have flowers or other debris blocking or making it difficult to read the engraved text
8) show the gravesite in any other "not ready for primetime" condition (for example: dead or rotting cut-flowers, open pit, plywood covers, shovels, other tools or construction equipment or the groundkeepers or workers in the frame).

In short, take pride in your work! Don't place a gravesite photo on one of my memorial page that you would NOT be proud to show your family if you had placed it on one of your own relative's memorial pages.

Thank you for your consideration.

Information - where it belongs...

Biographical information belongs in the "bio" field or in other text fields on the MAIN memorial page.

Please do NOT post pictures of text to any of my memorial pages (Example: Do NOT post pictures of; obituaries, death notices, news paper articles, death certificates, remembrance cards, etc.).

Also, do NOT post biographical information in the Flowers section. This too, belongs in the appropriate text fields on the main page.

Forward the information using the "Edit" tab and appropriate link. I'll ensure it is added to the memorial page in a prompt, accurate and professional manner.

Do NOT post non-photograph graphics to the photo section (such as military emblems, membership emblems, flags, candles, etc). These types of graphics waste the 5 free "photo" slots provided by findagrave.com.

Family members should NOT have to sponsor a memorial page (cost $5.00) in order to upload a favorite picture simply because someone uploaded a non-photograph graphic or a picture of text to the photos section of the memorial page.

Transfers...

Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This does not include Cousins, Aunts or Uncles. Nor does it include your neighbor or BFF.

You need not ask for a transfer if your "Contributions to Find A Grave" on your profile page shows an insignificant effort at "Pay-it-forward."

"The goal at Find A Grave should NOT be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."

Jim Tipton,
Find A Grave creator

My Photos...

Please respect my photographs, they are for your personal use only. Do NOT copy them to this or any other website; do NOT sell them, or otherwise attempt to profit from their use without written permission. (For example: Do NOT charge your relatives a "handling fee" or "re-imbursement fee" or "printing fee" to obtain a copy of your family tree if it contains one of my photographs.)

In summary, do NOT take credit for any photograph that you did not physically take yourself.

About me...

I graduated from Freeport Area High School, PA in 1971 and spent the next year at a technical college in Columbus, OH.

I received my physical notice from the draft board in the spring of 1972 and in August that year I followed in my father's foot steps, joining the US Navy (he put in 24 years before retiring as a CTCM in 1969). I spent 8 years as a submarine qualified nuclear electrician on both Fast Attack and Ballistic Missile Submarines. In October 1980 I was honorably discharged as an EM1(SS).

I spent the next 28 years working in the civilian nuclear power industry in both Ohio and Illinois. Most of that time in the training department as a Senior Reactor Operator License Training Instructor for both Intitial and Continuing training students.

I retired in August of 2008 after 36 years working in the nuclear power field.

Currently, I am still retired and live in north-central Illinois, within 2 miles of the intersection of I-80 and I-55.

I enjoy researching my family tree (9,000+ and growing). My father's family is from Allegheny and Armstrong counties in western Pennsylvania. My mother's family is from Charles County, in southern Maryland.

My family has limbs, branches, and roots that stretch across the United States. Most however, settled in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and California.

I enjoy taking cemetery, historical site, and other photographs. I am willing to assist with reasonable gravesite and non-gravesite photo requests; I will also consider the unreasonable requests.

Seebacher - 45595938
jer: I'd like to thank you for making my suggested edits for my longtime friend, Joe Seebacher. Thanks also for going "the extra mile" and adding the actual obit from the Daily Herald. I got the info I sent you from a funeral home/mass card I had kept. If I can help you in the future, just let me know. Jim-S.

Philip John Dziuk
There appears to be 2 records for Philip John Dziuk.

Can you merge the 2 records together ?

Only one of the records shows up during a google search.

Looks like I sponsored one record and you did the other ?

RE: Re: Lawrence E Runyan memorial
Thanks! And thanks for creating it. I live in Arizona and have not been able to travel for some time, so I'd never have been able to post those pictures. :)

William C Kennedy
Hello Gentlemen,

First, thank you both for all your hard work!
I'm sending identical messages to both of you. If you could help to merge the two duplicated memorials, I'd really appreciate it. This is not a relative of mine, so I am not requesting transfer. (If you'd prefer to transfer, however, that is fine with me.) I was doing some research for a friend (Willam's grandson) and we discovered the duplication. Grandson is 100% sure these are duplicates as his parents are in the listed obit and he has visited the cemetery where his grandfather is buried and seen the marker.

Memorial #44468269 (created 2009) for William C Kennedy showing his correct burial location at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery is actually the duplicate to #7460511 (created 2003) that shows an unknown burial location but has obituary information.

Following the guidelines, the older memorial should be kept and the newer one deleted, however, if the memorials could be merged without losing the obituary info, that would be lovely.

I'd be happy to help in any way I can. Thank you so much for your assistance.
Susan

RE: 69184312
Graphics? It was an obituary!!! They have never asked me to remove anything nor have they ever removed any obits or pictures that I add. And I send edits and add stuff every day! And I do NOT care what you wrote because it makes no difference. These memorials do not belong to us, but to findagrave and the families. IOW, you do not "OWN" them. Have a good day...

Normally, I do not respond to "BS" messages, but this statement is incorrect: "It appears to have been done to deliberately circumvent the normal Edit process." There is no way to add a picture to a memorial through the edit processes. I removed the picture, not because you asked findagrave or me, but only because you have his obit in his memorial and my picture was a duplicate of it. I work on all "Prunty's" in the US.

RE: Pilot killed in crash into Delaware Bay
After I sent you the inquiry, I re-read his obit and it says he was a test pilot for TWA's maintenance department. The family said he use to take them up and fly over NJ for about three hours testing it out before putting it into service. So my inquiry about the Navy is moot.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply, though.
