Bio Photo Updated October 15, 2014

Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (ALNC)
, Elwood, Will Co., Illinois...

Currently active burial sections (opened for interments on the dates listed):

Section 11, August 2012
Section 12, October 2012
Section 6B, November 2012
Section 14, June 2013
Columbarium 7, Wall 7, September 2014

I'll upload gravesite photographs for these Sections without the need for photo requests.

Note: Please refrain from requesting a photograph until after the professional grounds-keepers have had time to engrave and install marker stones (or niche covers), lay sod, and generally make the gravesites presentable. If I have not uploaded a photo by the 4-month mark, please do request a photo.

October 2014 - The cemetery has been working diligently to re-sod the back of Section 4, the front of Section 3. This includes raising the height and leveling thousands of marker stones, then removing the old grass/weeds, leveling the ground with black dirt and laying sod. It will need watered for a couple of weeks before those sections are ready to be photographed.

Resoding Sections 5, 7 and 8 is complete.

Thank you for your patience.

Information - where it belongs...

Biographical information belongs in the "bio" field or in other text fields on the MAIN memorial page.

Please do NOT post pictures of text to any of my memorial pages (Example: Do NOT post pictures of; obituaries, death notices, news paper articles, death certificates, remembrance cards, etc.).

Also, do NOT post biographical information in the Flowers section. This too, belongs in the appropriate text fields on the main page.

Forward the information using the "Edit" tab and appropriate link. I'll ensure it is added to the memorial page in a prompt, accurate and professional manner.

Do NOT post non-photograph graphics to the photo section (such as military emblems, membership emblems, flags, candles, etc). These types of graphics waste the 5 free "photo" slots provided by

Family members should NOT have to sponsor a memorial page (cost $5.00) in order to upload a favorite picture simply because someone uploaded a non-photograph graphic or a picture of text to the photos section of the memorial page.

Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This does not include Cousins, Aunts or Uncles. Nor does it include your neighbor or BFF.

You need not ask for a transfer if your "Contributions to Find A Grave" on you profile page shows an insignificant effort at "Pay-it-forward."

"The goal at Find A Grave should NOT be to manage all of your family members. If you have information to add, you should suggest it to the current manager and they should make the changes."

(c)opyrights, etcetera...

Please respect my photographs, they are for your personal use only. Do NOT copy them to this or any other website; do NOT sell them, or otherwise attempt to profit from their use without written permission.

For example: Do NOT charge your relatives a "handling" or "printing" fee to obtain a copy of your family tree if it contains one of my photographs.

In summary, do NOT take credit for any photograph that you did not physically take yourself.

About me...

I retired in August of 2008 after 36 years working in the nuclear power field, including 8 years as an Electrician in Uncle Sam's Submarine Fleet.

I live in north-central Illinois, within 2 miles of the intersection of I-80 and I-55. I enjoy researching my family tree (9,000+ and growing).

My father's family is from Allegheny and Armstrong counties in western Pennsylvania. My mother's family is from Charles County, in southern Maryland.

We have limbs, branches, and roots that stretch across the United States. Most however, settled in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and California.

I enjoy taking cemetery, historical site, and other photographs. I am willing to assist with reasonable gravesite and non-gravesite photo requests; I will also consider the unreasonable requests.

To borrow a line from Paladin's business card, and from the 1957-1962 TV series...

RE: Memorial 72380403
Straight from the FAQ:

The names of living survivors will be removed from the biography section of a memorial upon request.

How foolish of to ask questuions that are already answered in the FAQ. Tsk, tsk.

John F. "Jack" Mahnke
A privilege and an honor to know this wonderful man and to know him as my husband's Manchu brother--who served side by side with Jack -- both receiving a purple heart for their efforts on May 19th 1970 in Cambodia. Keep Up The Fire, Jack!!!

Question James B Twaits as family?
Excuse me I am just trying to find out what connection James B Twaits has with this family?

Family links:
Dana Nelson Wilcher (1900 - 1982)
Carmen B. Frizzell Wilcher (1897 - 1982)

Dorothea Twaits (1913 - 2013)*

James B Twaits (1910 - 2001)
Nadine Louise Wilcher Johnson (1923 - 2012)*
Dan Nelson Wilcher (1928 - 2006)*

Dana and Carmen cannot be his parents for he was born in 1910 and Dana my 2nd cousin was born in 1900 and I know of only 2 children that Dana and Carmen had.

Do you have any information as to how James Twaits is related? I have never heard of this name.

Thank you for your time. Sandra
