When I was small and would spend the day with my grandparents, I was not allowed to cross the street. I could, however, go along with my friend Bonnie,(and her little dog, "Willie") around the block to Rosemont in Plymouth, Illinois. This started my interest in the stones as art; the history of the people in my community, and my love of cemeteries and their preservation.|
Now that I live in my grandparent's house, I realize she only had to look out her back window for a fine view of the cemetery -- clever grandma!
Tim Coplin and I did mapping and a complete photocataloging of all the stones in the Old Macomb (Illinois) Cemetery. Tim also made a map of the cemetery.
I am actively working on a number of cemeteries: Mt. Horeb, in Adams Co.; Old Augusta & Woodlawn near Augusta; Rosemont, Irwin, St. Mary, all near Plymouth and Bowen all in Hancock Co.; Scott and Old Macomb in McDonough Co., and Round Prairie (Schuyler Co.)also near Plymouth,IL.
We live on the convergence of Hancock, McDonough, and Schuyler Counties in Illinois and are only a short distance to the Adams Co. line. This is an area that many pioneers passed thru or stopped over for a few years before continuing West. If you contact me, please state the cemetery which is concerned - that would help alot - thanks.
Please let me know if any of my entries need additions/corrections/deletions or if you want to assume management of an entry. If I can help in anyway, please let me know.
Happy graving to all. Connie

|Mary Anne Florence||Abel Cain, Mt Horeb|
The information for Abel Cain's parents is incorrect. Jonathan Cain's son was Abner not Abel. have not found Abel's parents yet but I know they were not Jonathan and Barbara. This was an old story someone spread around who did not do proper research.

Thank you for all of your work too!!

Thank you for the edit for David Tuck (#143645015); There seems to be a digit in the date missing in Emma's birth year. Could you send the edit again. I don't want to accept the edit with incomplete information. Thank you.
|Robert Wacaser||Many Thanks|
Just wanted to thank you for the Ballard transfer. I really appreciate it and thanks for adding him to this cemetery in the first place. Your time and kindness is appreciated.
|Wanda Goode||Capt. Lemuel Johnson|
You have two children linked to Lemuel. These are his grandchildren, children of his son Lemuel H. Johnson who was buried in Elmwood Cemetery; Chanute, Neosho, Kansas in 1914. Capt. Johnson is my 4th great-grandfather. Lemuel married Anna M. Wood about 1870 after his first wife Mary passed away.

Thanks for taking care of the duplicate memorial.

It's me again. :) My Grandma was 91 when she died and it says 81. Isn't 1887-1978 91 years?
|Barb Spencer||RE: Barb Stout Spencer|
Sure I would be glad to maintain my grandma's sight. Do what ever needs to be done to make it where I am. Thank you, Barb Stout Spencer
|Barb Spencer||RE: Barb Stout Spencer|
What do I do to maintain it? I live in Texas now.

Connie, I have just started doing my family history on my Mom's side the Little's and was surprised to find this picture of my Grandma Eva Little stone but we all called her Grandma Lizzie. My mother was Fern Stout daughter of Eva Elizabeth Little. Thank you for your wonderful work of doing this.
