Bio and Links
Bio Photo I enjoy helping others out. As well as working on my family history. If I can help in my area let me know. I will try to help get your photo and or obituary, if possible.

However, after going out of my way to get pictures and the such, I would appreciate it if Marcia would stop trolling the findagrave site and nit picking at my and "other" contributors work, effort and help. We are all adults, or so should be.

I am human and do make mistakes, just like the rest of us. (Whether some want to admit it or not is still out for debate. LOL)

If you find a problem, please be kind when asking for corrections to be made. Most would agree that a polite contact is the best kind of contact.

In the event you find memorials that need to be linked. Please provide proof that it is husband and wife buried together. I've gotten wrong information. What a headache that was. So please provide proof. Thanks!!

Currently I am inputting information from cemetery books. I am not trying to have a bunch of memorials under my number WHO CARES???
What I care for is to list the forgotten, for those that are searching for loved ones. Not knowing where in the "county" they are resting. Since inputting the cemetery book info. I have had several people contact me because I had solved mysteries where their relatives are buried at.

Found this wonderful writing by: Thelma Greene Reagan.

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY LEAF
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

James Hayden Thompson 1798-1861
I'm having a tough time with a couple of people in this family. The eldest sister to William was Mary Jane Thompson-Coen who is buried in Round Prairie along with her husband and many of her children.

There are two younger sisters who can't be traced and are presumed to be passed on. Could you look them up?

1) Hannah Ann Thompson Cowan w/o John W. Cowan married 1854 in Schuyler County.
2) Isabel (Belle) Thompson-Bunton-Cain married to David R. Cain in 1868. Last seen in the 1870 census. David is remarried in 1874. Belle's daughter is living with an Aunt so it's assumed that Belle died 1870-1874.

Would either of these two ladies be in your books?

Thanks for any insight you can give.

Laurie

William & James Hayden Thompson
I am looking for William Thompson, who died in 1864. William is supposed to be buried in Moss Ridge, Carthage, Illinois. The last missive I had with a person there told me that William's headstone was cracked in half. He served with the 119th Illinois and died a Sgt. at Gayoso Hospital in Tennessee. I'm hoping to find a verification so that he can be added to F.A.G. along with the rest of the family I have started to build.

Also- In your travels have you found James Hayden Thompson b 1798 Maryland and died in 1861 in Hancock County, Illinois? We found these facts in a biography of the youngest son. We are hoping James might be buried near William in Carthage.

The James Hayden Thompson family moved to this area in 1854 and lived on the farm of Levi and Martha Cook.

Bidwell-Simon Family
I would like to kindly ask for a transfer of three family members that are located in Augusta Cemetery.
J Elmore Simon # 118618233
Sarah F Simon #118618366
Mary Simon Bidwell #118269054

I have a question to ask also: Mary had a baby that died a few months after her death. I do not see her listed in the Augusta cemetery. I believe she would be buried near her mother. Can you check your records for this child?

Mary Irene Bidwell Born April 23,1895 she died on Oct 5, 1895.

Thank You so much for your help and all your hard work. It is appreciated.
Sincerely, Caroline

RE: Minnie Belle Griffith Widener # 120425950
Thank you so much for updating her memorial. I'm working on my family tree and got sidetracked and just kept going on. Just so you get an idea, Minnie's husband is the 2nd cousin of the wife of my 2nd cousin 3x removed.... I get a little carried away sometimes.
I love this website, as it has been a huge help to me in locating some of my relatives, and if I can help others in any way by adding memorials or info that I come across, or just helping others to remember lost loved ones, then it is well worth it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do the same.
Have a great day!

Find A Grave Memorial# 112773771
I am photographing Hawfields Cemetery and am working on the area that the Gibson's are buried in and I am confused by your memorials & photo requests. There is a Joseph S Gibson who has the same birth year as your memorial for the same name, but death year is different. The page for Mary Gibson has your Joseph linked in as her spouse but a different name listed for who her husband was. I have looked for a death cert for either one and can't find one with those names & dates. I can't even find a census record for them.

Also neither one is listed on the cemetery census.

I will be happy to help but I'm just not sure who these people are or if they are even buried at Hawfields. It is quite possible I am over looking something. If you can send me more info., I'll see what I can do.
