Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am documenting burials in the following cemeteries in Hancock County, Ill.: Fountain Green, Hadley, St. Simon (a.k.a. Lincoln or Lincoln Catholic), Majorville, Roberts, Webster, Willis, Wright, Yetter. Also Friendship and Hills Grove in McDonough County, Ill. Links to these cemeteries are located on my homepage.

I implore Find A Grave members to seek out tombstones which have not been documented. We all have family trees in which there are persons for whom we have no evidence of when or where they died and were buried.

Please familiarize yourself with the guidelines outlined in the "Help with Find A Grave", linked at left, particularly those under the Working With Photos heading:

--Can I add a photo that I found on a different website?

--Someone posted my copyrighted photos! How can I get them removed or get them properly credited?

--I found a photo of a relative on Find A Grave, can I use it?

The above questions and answers are in agreement with standards approved by the National Genealogical Society

Unless otherwise stated by the contributor, no tombstone photographs taken after 1989 are in public domain. If you are creating your own family tree on another website, please respect the copyright of the contributor.

Above all, remember that "We want Find A Grave to remain a place of respect and remembrance, just like a real cemetery."

I visited your website this evening and I thank you for a wonderful page on my Londrie family. I would truly like to have a copy of the obituary for Mary and the pic of the sons. It is so satisfying to see pics of the old ones.
I can see now that you are not related fromwhat is written on the website and you have done a wonderful job of compiling all this info. Thanks again.

I am thinking that you may be related to the LONDRIEs??
I should have mentioned that Lewis Henry's father John was the son of Eli or Levi or Joseph Elie as it is written on his baptismal cert. He was the son of Alexis Charles LANDRY and Marie Sara LeBlanc.Eli was the eldest of 9 and my 3rd g-uncle. My 3rd gramps was Jean Baptiste LANDRY later changed to LONDRY after he received an land grant in ON Canada. Jean Baptiste was the 8th and youngest son.

Hi Marcia,
May I have your permission to use 2-3 photos of headstones for my family tree? I will certainly give credit to you.

Mordecai Lincoln

That Mordecai had been moved by the Archdiocese
Of Peoria to their ?

I photographed all tombstones there and their were Lincolns
But no Mordecai.

Wm & Margaret
Sorry, but I can't accept the edit for William Marshall as it is. I can't add William for spouse because of the order would be wrong. It makes William second and Thomas third. To be in correct order, the links have to come from Margaret, the original memorial. Please remove the spouse link on Thomas' memorial and then I can link Thomas and William as second and third spouse. I sure appreciat your help with this. JD

If I add William's link, it puts him as first spouce, which he wasn't. I asked Will Chalk to add the year 1898 for James Kington so his link will be first and then I can add Wm McCants.

La Harpe Cemetery

At the end of next week, I will be in Macomb and hope to spend Friday looking for some of my great grand parents/uncles/aunts who are buried in La Harpe Cemetery and for whom you have created links on Find A Grave.
If possible, could you help me locate the section of La Harpe Cemetery for the following people:
Lucy (Sperry) Gittings #119860176
Florella (Oatman) Sperry #9360929
Homer Gittings #119877730
Except for a Google map of La Harpe, I know nothing about the cemetery, like where is the Main Gate or where is Hungate's Addition?

Thank you for any information.

Tom Gittings

Hi Marcia,

Just getting caught up and see you sent an edit for the dates. Would you like me to note the birthdate discrepancy on his memorial?

You've Got It All
How are you doing? I finished both eye surgeries - yes, only one was planned, but I ended up doing both - theoretically, that's all.

Ruby M. Collins, 97, of LaHarpe, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 1993 at LaHarpe, IL. Born Dec. 10, 1896 in Blandinsville to Francis and Flora Elesta Maharry Gilmore, she married Archie Collins on Feb. 23, 1917. He died April 21, 1963. Two sons, Albert and Henry, three daughters Wenona Bugerosky, Virgie Bundy, and Mary Jane Collins; two sisters, six brothers, six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

I found some old CD's in the garage that are full of obituaries - from 2001 to 2008 - yikes!

Here's another one for you to research, if you want to - Clarence A. "Dewey" Blandin, 87, of 8305 S. Rothlisberger, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 1993, at Hallmark House in Pekin. Born June 2, 1906 in Harkers Corner to George and Kate Polson Blandin, he married Pearl Rothlisberger on Sept. 18, 1934 in Kankakee. One son, Gerald of Bartonville, one daughter, Carole Blandin of Mapleton; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren, one sister, Ora Vernice Bridgeman.

I can't find any of them! Doctor's appointment tomorrow - I probably shouldn't be playing on the computer.
