We live in a small town in Iowa and members of the Pioneer Cemetery Commission for our county. We have been interested in genealogy for several years and spend a lot of time in Graveyards and Cemeteries taking pictures, taking notes, just piecing the families together. |
The peace and serenity found in these old cemeteries is our reward!
We have come across cemeteries where the headstone markers have disappeared... they are unreadable, broken, buried, or have fallen etc . The Cemeteries are so old that there are not any other records of the people resting there. When these cemeteries go...so does that person's existence!
We would like to thank all of you for your contributions to preservation of these cemeteries.
If there is a memorial we have added, that is not in our family, we will consider a transfer of the memorial to you.
Please use the Edit tab,(upper right hand corner of the memorial) Please do this on every memorial that you want transferred or a correction on and please include your ID number.
If ever you decide you no longer want to maintain the records please transfer your records to someone who has an active account and willing to take over the records. There are many out there willing to do this!
It would also be a good idea to leave someone instructions on how to make these transfers should you go inactive without warning.
If the need arises Andrew has accepted the stewardship over the memorial in our care.
Thank You, Mo & Dave

Thank you so very much for your prompt reply. I just this evening found the entry for G.M. Limbocker and like you feel that this is probably George W. Perhaps someone will one day see this string of messages and provide further info. I just hate the idea of a family member who would cherish seeing this image and not knowing that it exists. Melanie

Dear Mo and Dave:
You have posted a photo of the graves of are Alfred Limbocker, his wife and daughter. We are interested in any additional information you might be able to provide about Mr. Limbocker (we have his obit, but nothing else). We are collectors of victorian images. We recently came into possession of an ambrotype of Alfred's son, Lt. George Limbocker, in his Civil War uniform. The records we find for George indicate he resigned his commission in 1863 and died in March 1865. Would love to be able to locate his grave and any additional information you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you, Melanie Kuntz and Jeff Prechtel

George Sheets is my gggg-uncle and I noticed you had a memorial for him. His death date was September, 1872, as per United States Records of Headstones of Deceased Union Veterans, 1879-1903, on FamilySearch.
|David McNally||Mary Agnes Bailey Cook's Husband|
Hi Mo & Dave,
I'm trying to find Mary Agnes Bailey Cook's (Find A Grave Memorial# 80971108) husband and it appears that Morrison M. Cook (Find A Grave Memorial# 80970856) is probably him. Can you tell me if these two are buried beside each other or if you have any records that would yield any information that could help. I'm reaching out to you since you mention that you are members of the Pioneer Cemetery Commission for your county... it seemed like a good place to start. Thanks,
|Peggy Goodwin||Mary Sweet Walker|
Thank you for transferring her to me!

You took the picture of the stone for James K. Little at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa--Forest Home cemetery. Could you tell me if any other Littles are buried around him. His wife was Orinda Little--is she there by him? She was at least alive in 1940. She was born in 1855. Thanks if you can help. Wm & SJ Donath #48116482

Find A Grave Memorial# 62292861
If you blow up the picture of the tombstone = the T.E.V. Fariss JR. was born in 1846 NOT 1848. It's difficult, but if you look at the other 8's - it isn't an 8. there is a slight space making it 6. Which it is, 1846
Also T.E.V. Fariss JR. - IS NOT buried there. He chose to be buried in Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa at the Evergreen Cemetery. That is why there is no DEATH date on that tombstone for him.
Please correct if you find I am right
Thanks so much, appreciate your time in this matter

Thank you for the photo of Orie Boese's marker (#86645865) from Sugar Ck Cem. Would it be OK with you if I post your photo to my Ancestry.com family tree?
Also, his wife Edith passed in June. I suspect her date may be engraved on the marker by now. There doesn't appear to be a memorial set up for her yet. This is my husband's family, and he is only distantly related to the Boeses, so I thought you may be interested in establishing her memorial, and perhaps replacing the photo with one showing her DOD. If you would like a photo request for her, or if you do not wish to establish her memorial, please let me know and I'll be happy to do that.
