I love the peace and quiet of cemeteries. (There are no telemarketers calling.) I also love taking pictures. The exercise is at my own pace. The stones are interesting, and they absolutely need to be documented before they are lost to the ravages of time. |
I'm 10 generations forward from my Mayflower ancestor George Soule. I'm 13 generations from my New Haven founder Capt. Nathaniel Turner. 13 Generations is 1024 direct ancestors (doesn't count siblings etc.) My husband also has 1024 direct ancestors going back to the Mayflower. That's 2048 direct ancestors. I haven't found them all in the 40+ years I've been researching. But I'm still looking. Thanks to all of you members at Find a Grave, who are making finding their burial places easier.
PLEASE use the EDIT tab for suggestions, corrections and transfers. I'm happy to make changes, but I'm going to ask you for a source, if it's not directly on the stone. (Using the new edit system you can send source information through the "Suggest any other correction or addition" line.) The internet is a wonderful thing for genealogists but it's also very good at spreading misinformation, and I am trying very hard not to spread undocumented genealogy. That's one of the reasons I love Find a Grave, because I can look directly at a gravestone and see exactly what it says and don't have to depend on second and third hand information. Happy hunting.
PHOTOS OF GRAVESTONES. Please feel free to use mine, that's why I took them. I do like to get credit, though. "ASB"
PHOTOS OF PEOPLE. I've posted them to be enjoyed by visitors to Find a Grave. I was a little taken aback to see my mother's photo on Ancestry. So you're welcome to use them, for your personal use, but I would appreciate it, if you would avoid posting them to other internet sites.

Thanks for the information. I have made Elizabeth Merritt McCabe a new entry and removed all the old enteries. I don't think it is her either after looking more closely. This is another Merritt line that I have worked on in the past trying to link to my main Merritt line of DeKalb County, TN. I am trying to get data on Find A Grave as I am not getting any younger.
Thanks so much for the note...Robie

Didn't take too long and we found the monuments of family members at St. George Cemetery in Southbridge MA. Thanks for the good directions and hint about the name Robert at the base of the monument.
Thank you for transferring the memorials to me :)

I am not related. I am a local historian working on a history book and found the information in my research. Janet Weeth

Thank you for adding the info to the memorial of John Gore and for taking care of his wife Hannah Carpenter Gore and linking her to her parents. We appreciate your good work.
|Dirigo 04736||Re Sylvia Ringdahl|
once again here is the link to her maiden name
if this is not enough please remove all the edits I have sent you. I spent serious time researching for Sylvia, if you cannot handle adding her maiden name after you were sent a link to her marriage record and accepting links to parents with the same name, might I suggest you transfer management to me and I will properly honor Sylvia C (Trone) Ringdahl.

So appreciate your good description of the lay of the land in St. George Cemetery, Southbridge, MA. Never been there so the info helps identify what to expect. Hopeful we will find family plots when we visit early Oct. Thanks for your guidance.

Hello, thank you for the edits at St. George. I took about 100 pictures this past weekend and still have about 50 or so to post. The only family I have there is the Blain stone up by the road . There is no need to transfer the memorials if you want to keep them . I just wanted to link them, and when possible I look up the death information, obits on geanology.com. Thanks again for creating all the memorials in St. George. Jerry

Taking a road trip early Oct. to Massachusetts. Hoping to visit St. George Cemetery, Southbridge Worcester County Massachusetts to visit family graves and take picture of headstones. Ancestory search for Hilaire Lavigne with Memorial # 93808530 has come up as well as Hedwidge Duff Lavigne Memorial# 93808529 and Onesime Lavigne Memorial# 93808532 are the main focus. Record shows these records were created by ASB and added July 18, 2012. How do I find the plot where they are buried? Called St. George Cemetery but they have no record of family name buried there. Kind of a mystery from this end. Our family documents states they were buried in St. George's Cemetery in Southbridge MA. I'm at a loss of how to get info on the "plot" where they are buried. Any suggestions/help you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks . . Mike
I wanted to thank you for the transfer of Ennis N. Searles. Some emails quickly got by me and I wanted to make sure I gave you a big thanks for the all edits and the transfer.
