I started taking pictures and adding data after my own mother died. |
I was doing research on a neighborhood history project and accidently ran across a picture of that families' mausoleum on find a grave.
After looking at the site, I decided to add my family to the collection. When I took pictures of my families stones, I took others near them. Then I took pictures of good looking stones and monuments and odd ones or old ones.
Now, I try to honor any I find. I feel I am helping people find their history and honoring those who went before us.
I hope that if anyone finds their loved ones through me, that they will see it in that way.
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

I found this lovely poem on the site of Dave Buckmaster - I loved it and "borrowed" it.

Thank you for the transfer! I really appreciate it a lot!!
Thank you so so much for doing them so promptly. I recently finished photographing Sec. C, and when I got to the Allens I started researching so they could all be connected ('cus there are a ton of them in that lot and they can be a little confusing). I have the two early burial books which help immensely.

I may be connected to the other haddads that you have shown but until I verify a relationship I won't know for sure. I appreciate all you do for me and the genealogical community.

No - that is perfect - I am so sorry that I sent a wrong link. I think what happened is I had you link the correct daughter (also a Lucy Tibbals) and then later saw the grandchild and was thinking it was the daughter and thought I forgot to send you the link. It's that old age thing creeping up on me - ha ha.

Eeeek! I must have sent you this link in error - this was Huron's granddaughter, not daughter.

I was glad to give you some information. He is descended from my gr-gr-grandfathers half sister. I recently found a 3rd great grandson of her and was working on the trees and found the memorial. I may find some more info if you have memorials for other folks.
