Beneath the boughs of ancient trees
A little flag defies the breeze
And every carvings's stark relief
Reminds us of a day of grief.

The flowers in the vase soon wilt
And over time, the markers tilt;

The letters on a stone may blur
But even after decades stir
The memories of those before,
Of how they'd smile and laugh and roar.

And standing on this gusty hill
I think that they are with us, still.

RE: Donald J
Thank you for the suggestion. That is a very good idea. His tombstone is in the Catholic section. If you know where the altar is, go west of the altar down that road and his tombstone should be on the left about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way to the next road that runs north and south. I do believe it is right along the road. You should come to it before you get to the corner where you have to turn left as the road curves there. Thank you for your help !

Headstones in Abilene cemetery
Thanks for your note & the beautiful photos on the sites. You always take such beautiful photos. I will have to get up & look at the Trotter headstone. It is one of the most interesting tombstones I have ever seen & most likely designed with a great deal of meaning. Richard
