People come to Find a Grave for many reasons; genealogy, curiosity, closure. People volunteer on Find a Grave for many reasons; genealogy, curiosity, closure. Sadly, some are in a contest to see how many memorial pages they can put in, mistakes and all, and they hold tight to those pages they've created even if they aren't related to them at all…for them it's all about the numbers.
My friend, Melinda Fowler, and I started doing this for our own families and then it quickly became something bigger…it was about other people's families. We have gotten such satisfaction out of fulfilling requests and everyone is so grateful. But it is "we" who are grateful for the opportunity to honor your relatives. We're not in this for the count, but for the gratification in connecting relatives and for recognizing the need to say "I WAS HERE".
p.s. I take a lot of random pictures in the Danbury, CT and Westchester County, New York area. If I should happen to run into your family and you would like to take ownership, by all means let me know and it's done. Families should stay together!

Samuel Dexter Collier
Thank you very much for the photo. Samuel Dexter Collier is my Great Grandfather. He died at the state institution in Cranston, RI so I thought he might be buried there but thankfully he is buried with his two wife's.

Arthur and Henrietta Schrull
Thank you for the photos of Arthur and Henrietta Schrull, I'm not sure how I'm related to Arthur Schrull but he was a descendant of Martin Schrull from Poland. I also have some Schrull ancestors that also lived in Poland too, my great grandfather Carl Schrull was born in Lonke, Russia (now Lakie, Skepe, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Poland), it's close to Rypin. He may not be a descendant of Martin Schrull, since I couldn't find him in your list, Carl and Martin might be cousins. Also, Rudolph Schrull was Henrietta's husband, have you found his burial yet?

Hey Cousin!
Just saw the message that you fulfilled my photo request for Cousin Butch's memorial. Thanks so much! I figured I'd be driving up in a couple of weeks and taking the picture myself! You saved me a 2 and 1/2 hour ride!

It is very special that the photo was taken by you! It is beautiful...thank you! One of these days, we will definitely have to cross paths on purpose!

Big hugs and kisses!

RE: Fantastic
Linda,

Thank you very much! I do know that Elizabeth's mother Hanorah/Ann (Costello) Leighton is buried at Valley View in Dover Plains. She died in 1906. Her husband Patrick Leighton was killed on the railroad tracks in Dover in 1881, but I don't if he is buried at St Charles or Valley View (Catholic Grounds). I would assume him as his wife are buried together but I couldn't find an internment date for with Valley View, but I was told their records were really bad.

Thanks again,

Mike

RE: Charles Hine
Wow thank you. I always enjoy it when people find the marker and take a picture of it after I find old newspaper articles. It helps confirm it and puts everything together.

Thank you!
