Bio and Links
Mainly located in Ulster and Columbia Counties in New York.

Please do not request to add a birth date calculated from the gravestone, unless the complete age is known or listed (y/m/d). Dates that do not agree with stone and are not primary sourced will be placed in the bio section or declined.

For family links, please provide the correct memorial #'s for the link. Also, use the SAC feature.

Transfer requests must be submitted via a SAC and must provide the exact relationship and be within guidelines.
Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. Transferring of management should only be requested if you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree outside guidelines is not grounds for a management transfer request. Transfer requests that do not include relationship to deceased or are out of guidelines are deleted.

Upon request, personal use of photos will be given with proper credit or a findagrave link.

Sorry, I had to remove my email as to many incomplete requests were being sent instead of using a SAC.

St Marys - Saugerties
Hello. Looking for some advice. I have many ancestors from Saugerties. I have not been able to find any graves for them on FindAGrave, nor are they listed in the Old Cemeteries of Ulster County book. Most of them were Catholic, so I was assuming the burials would be in St Marys. The names I am looking for are McKeon, Carr/Kerr, and Welch primarily. The time period they were in Ulster County is abt 1850 - 1950. Is St Mary's only partially listed on findagrave? I have no idea how large the cemetery is. Would you advise that I contact the church directly? Any help would be appreciated.

Internment Records
Hello Fred,

I am the Great Great Granddaughter of Hellena C Lasher Van Etten. I noticed that you listed Pleasantville Cemetery Association as the cemetery management group. Would you have any contact information for them? I am looking for the internment date so I can get a "death date range" for research. Seems my Grandmother died with a book containing dates but no one can find it.

She is buried in Elizaville Cemetery

Hi Fred, Thanks for putting the obituary on the memorial. The link at the top "Martha" does not go to my profile. Perhaps you can update that.
Thanks again.

RE: Eleazer Luce - Aquebogue Cemetery
Plenty of stones clearly show LUCE, others clearly show LUFE. I am just wondering how and why. And, if it is the same family, how to prevent duplicates?

James J. Tyler Photo
Thank you so much for locating the grave and taking a photo of James Tyler's headstone for me. I'd love to visit the area and see it and any other Tyler headstones for myself, but working doesn't give me a lot of time for travel. Bless you, and thanks again!

RE: Riverhead Cemetery
Dear Mr. Saar,
I am member #48086776, writing about Alice Marie Peterson Beni who is interred at Riverhead Cemetery in Suffolk County. When I called, I did speak to Mr. Hollis, and he had told me the cemetery records on hand were from the 1940's on.
He advised me he would try to search further, and he had taken my number to call back. About one month later, I called back but can not recall who I had spoken to, and he also took my number. I did set up a memorial on Find A Grave, but do not have plot location.
I thank you very much for your help, and wish you well.

Mary Furner
Fred, hi.

Can you tell me more about the information below on Mary Furner? The link to Martha Parks Furner as a parent, was that from the cemetery records? Ae 74, does that refer to an age? Martha could not be her mother in that case.

Thanks.

Mary Furner
Birth: unknown
Death: Jan. 7, 1844

RE: Shufelt
Dear Mr. Saar,

Thank you for your email regarding the Shufelt family and the web site.

I did see this web site, several months ago. I have been having a great deal of trouble
trying to find the father of Andrew Shufelt (married to Delinda). I do not think,
as many people on the internet do, that Andrew is the son of Jeremiah Shufelt
and Annatje Hannah Herder or Harder.

This has been a great disappointment to our applicant......I was able to find a book
regarding the Shufelt family but the author had not researched Andrew's family.

If you happen to be in the neighborhood of the cemetery where Jeremiah and Annatje Shufelt
are buried a picture of their headstones along with any other members of their family nearby
would be quite helpful. If I can find information about the brother and sisters which show Andrew
then I would be able to connect the families together.....

I appreciate your kind offer. Thank you very much!

Shufelt Headstone
Dear Mr, Saar,

Thank you so much for this photograph of
the headstone of the Andrew and Delinda Shufelt family. This has indeed solved one problem for
our DAR, San Francisco applicant. Now, just one
more problem to go! I am searching for the father
of Andrew who I believe was Jeremiah Shufelt/wife]
would have been Annatje Hannah Herder.....if this
might be in the same cemetery/nearby.....would this
be in your records? It might not be, but I thought
I would take this time to ask you, just in case.

I appreciate very much this headstone picture!!

Sincerely, Virginia Presti
