Bio and Links
Bio Photo Memorializing a family member can be a rather complex experience & personal issue. My goal is to use Find a Grave as a genealogic record linking my family members to each other. To link and not to divide. Some family issues have done that already. If relations are related, why not link- I don't believe any 100+ year old issue to be worth the cost of exclusion from (a family, or) adding a link. Putting painful memories to rest as it were. Note- that I use Mouseover or Hovertext- don't click, just hover mouse beginning to midline. This link has mouseover or 'Hover Text', and I don't burn up text in 'this' limited column profile space

David Crippen and Electa Hopkins
Dear Sir,

I was SO pleased to run into your contributions regarding Electa and David! I have been searching for several years for information about them. Since it seems you might have a possibility of being related, I wondered if you might have found any information concerning the descendants. I have a page from a bible which denotes Electa Hopkins as a great great grandmother and a Maria(or Marcia) Crippen as a great grandmother. It further goes to say that they were from Vermont, but moved to Peterborough Canada. I have noted the closeness of Hope Township to Peterborough. My great grandfather was a Winters, but was raised by an Alexander Ross, who also had a son with the first name of Hopkins. I believe that the Ross's that raised him may have been related in some way. Other than that, we have no clue where my great grandfather came from.

I ask that you might forgive my presumption that you would care to read my history, but it seems to be very difficult to find information in Canada. I would be very grateful if you might take a moment and impart any information you might know.

Thank you,

Lisa Haff

RE: Samuel C.Crippen
If any of his sons had a son named Nathaniel. He had a daughter named Fidelia Crippen born in 1828 in New York.

Charles Hoyt
I will gladly transfer him to you as I have not done a gene search for his family. I never knew him, only by name, as the husband of a great-aunt.

Adeline & Jessie Hoyt
Hi Walter,

I've added the information and links to the memorials. I cannot link Charles to his folks because I do not maintain Charles' memorial. I believe I found him listed as memorial #67531731, and you can request a link from whoever has him listed.

None of the Hoyt's are kin to me. I was just fulfilling a volunteer photo request, and I added the rest of the burials on the lot. I'm not a bit possessive about my memorials and I'm always happy to make a transfer, no matter how distant the relation.

Just as a note, I see that Adeline's death year on her marker differs by one year from what you sent. Not an uncommon occurrence, but I just thought I'd mention it. I have one ancestor who changed the dates on his wife marker to make her appear 12 years younger. You find all sorts of odd things when you do genealogy.

I could not agree more with the statement on your homepage. It's always good to have another member with a positive attitude.

Wilhoit & Embree
I can understand your confusion. First, there's Nancy whose maiden name was Wilhoit. Nancy Wilhoit was the daughter of Nicholas Wilhoit, Sr. Nancy Wilhoit was born ca. 1784 in Virginia and died in 1851 in Cumberland Co., KY. Nancy Wilhoit was the wife of Elisha Embree, Sr., who was born 1772 in Virginia and died in 1839 in Cumberland Co., KY.

Then there's Nancy Wilhoit Embree (1850-1935). Nancy's middle name was Wilhoit, and her maiden name was Embree. She was the daughter of Elisha Embree, Jr., and Susan Amarilla Evelyn Elizabeth Phelps. Nancy Wilhoit Embree married Arthur MacArthur Monteith.

What it comes down to is this: Nancy Wilhoit Embree who married Arthur Montieth is the granddaughter of Nancy Wilhoit who married Elisha Embree, Sr. I hope this helps. If not, let me know. I hope you find some good information at Belton.

I have transferred him to you.

If you could in the future, add your ID number to transfer requests. It makes it easier and faster.
