Bio and Links
Bio Photo My family doesn't understand my obsession for recording headstones, uncover Markers and link lost family members. I have dug my way in the bushes and scraped many headstone for others. I love doing research on my family tree. Everyone should have their name etched in history. I hope to help provide this information. Currently working on my Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) and plan on working on (DAR) Daughters of the American Revolution.

Be kind to this web site for its mission to find a grave--tombstones not a family album unless you are willing to sponsor this memorial.
I have chosen Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery to be my goal to photograph the entire cemetery.

Any and all pictures can be used without any further contact, I took them for your use. Thank you for allowing me to help and enjoy your search as much as I do.

Mexia Memorial
Morning Brenda,
Your bio sez that "your family doesn't understand your ambition for recording tombstones", well, you are preaching to the choir as the saying goes. There is nothing that I like better to do than stomp around a cemetery visiting people that came before me.
Having said that, I'm glad that you picked up on the discrepancy of 1898 vs: 1906. I tried to find some death records on him to verify but with but no luck. Oh well, at least your have some evidence to go on.
Have U ever been to that cemetery ????
I finally found a listing but it's really hard to work with. One place between the Echol's and Cummings family plots there are 30 names listed.
As I walked that area, I found only 5 markers and I "witched" (for lack of a better term) 20+ burials, so needless to say, record keeping is not the term of the day. Naturally, as with any cemetery, some of the people will never be located .......
I digress, I am sending this to let ya know that I am going back today to check out the area that I didn't have time to complete last week.
Inez Morris's obit lists a local funeral home so I will swing by and see if they have any burial records that are helpful.
No reply needed, this is just FYI to let ya know that I am still working on your project.

Mexia Memorial Cemetery
Hey Brenda,
I just checked out the "request" list and found the (5) entries that U posted (your cousins I assume). I printed them out and will look into it in a few weeks. I need to take my cat, River, down to my cabin in Austin for his internment in my "kitty cemetery" and then I'll work on your list.
Also, I thought I did a better job of fotos than I actually did, only 39% listed as photographed. Wow, guess I dropped the ball on that issue, can't explain that statistic. I will actively work on changing that equation percentage.

Mexia Memorial Cemetery
Morning Brenda,
U asked if I am familiar with Mexia Memorial, the answer is "yes".
I have been over and walked it 3 or 4 times trying to locate the unmarked grave of a Vietnam Vet and a few years back I finally located it conclusively.
I need to go back anyway and see if any person or organization that I provided the info to has put a marker down.
U mentioned cousins buried there ......
I think that over the years I have photographed every visible marker there but there is always the case if "wash dirt" covered a flat marker at one time then the reverse could happen, a good rain (and we have had lots of them) could uncover the same marker.
That cemetery presents it's own set of challenges, mainly there is no survey available, at least none that I have located.
So, if you have some names and dates, maybe know what part of the cemetery to concentrate on, maybe even some known markers in the area, pass the info along. it would be a great help, and I'll give it a shot.

Mildred Mahalia Fisher Adams
You posted Mildred's parents as John King Fisher and Mildred S. Croford/Crofoot. Would you please share with me where you got these names as they are different than I have. I always want to make sure I am correct in my genealogy. I look forward to hearing from you. Marlene

Daniel Altman Headstone
I appreciate you taking the time to look for Daniel Altman's headstone in the Oatmeal Cemetery. It saddens me that there is not a headstone present. Thank you so much for your time and effort!
