I became interested in family history in May 2010 when my mother's sister passed away. All three sisters had passed within three years! It made me realize that the older generation was leaving and if I wanted to know more about our family, I better start asking questions! I got very interested in family history and discovered that I really enjoy visiting eastern NC cemeteries, taking pictures of headstones, and figuring out who the people were and if/how they were related to me. I focus on Martin County (my dad's family) and Wilson County (my mom's family).

I am a member of the DAR. John Jackson Morgan Sr of Nash County, NC is the first Revolutionary War patriot I have been able to prove my connection to.

This hobby (obsession?) has been a real blessing in many ways. The best part is meeting relatives I never knew I had, and becoming friends with some of the most wonderful people I've ever known.

When contacting me about a memorial or photo I have added, PLEASE INCLUDE THE MEMORIAL NUMBER.

WHOA ... hold everything!!!

Deborah, I really did botched this all up!

The headstone in the NC cemetery CLEARLY is a memorial "in memory of", and 2Lt Narron is NOT buried here, but in Italy as you pointed out.

Your lady friend who added the duplicate memorial did the right thing. Please do NOT ask her to remove her memorial ... we need both to properly remember the young 2Lt.

Sorry for all the confusion.

Hi Deborah, thanks for the photo of 2Lt Narron's grave but ... there's an odd problem. I think I may have been the requester for this and the original memorial number is: 56361999

But you attached your photo to: 120976999

Could I ask you to attached the same photo to 2Lt Narron's memorial at this number? 56361999

I'm not sure what to do about the duplicate memorials.

The photos you took are appreciated and it would be great if you can take another photo. They looked like they needed a little cleaning!

Hi Deborah,

Thanks so much for the photos of their grave markers and creating the memorial for Lolene and transferring her to me! These folks are distantly related to me. I too have become 'obsessed' with family history and your thoughtfulness has been a double blessing to me in that I did not know her death date and to have photos of their markers is great.

Thanks again Deborah. You're the best I've ever seen at taking these pictures. Sometimes mine are oversized when I try to upload them to Ancestry.

RE: Maplewood Cemetery
Hi again Deborah,

Thank you for the photo of Delia Deans Flowers #130191909. I think it is wonderful that Find-A-Grave has been able to have a listing of many different cemeteries where you are able to get photos of the headstones. There are so many small family cemeteries that were on family farms, and those graves will probably never be found which is a shame. We have found a couple of our family members that were buried with a wooden cross. There is very little left of them, but we were lucky and was able to get photos of some of them. Thats another problem with many of the headstones the weather and the elements are causing many to disappear. My husband and I are grateful for the many volunteers like you who take their time out of their busy days to go and get the headstone photos. At least now with Find-A-Grave growning with more people who care enough to remember our lost loved ones, and hopefully will not forget them. Again thank you for all your hard work, and sorry for the long letter.

We also wanted to thank you for all of the other photos you have taken for us, it really means a lot to us since my husband is disabled and he is not able to go to these cemeteries to take the photos.
