I enjoy researching my own families as well as helping others research theirs. My own family includes Stephens/Stevens, Ferrell, Christenbury, Ross, Smith, House, Richardson, Broom, Starns, Black, McCall, Elrod, Cartee-Mostly from Charlotte and the surrounding area. Ross' are from South Carolina. The Smiths, Elrods and Cartees are from Anderson, SC. My grandmother, Charlene Dumont, was from Belgium.|
Adding grave photos...
I appreciate very much when someone adds a grave photo to my memorials that do not have them, but if a memorial already has a perfectly good, legible grave photo, please do not add another simply because you have it. This is a chance we take when we walk randomly around cemeteries taking pictures. I know...it happens to me all the time.
Keep in mind that only 5 photos can be added to a memorial without sponsorship. I would rather save that space for family to add personal photos, and every memorial I create is with hope that a family member will find it.
I am very happy to do it. It makes me happy when someone in my memorials is found by a family member. I am also happy to transfer any memorial of someone who is of special interest to you whether you are related or not, as long as your intentions fall within FAG guidelines AND you plan to work with the memorial. If you don't plan to do anything with it, then there is no need for a transfer.
I WILL NOT TRANSFER FAMILY, I do not mind at all if you ask, but please don't be angry if I decline, as I likely will no matter how I am related. I have worked very hard on many of these memorials and I am always going back to research different family members and trying to add new information. So, I consider these memorials MINE. I am open to adding any information you have and I encourage photos, as long as they are accurate and within FAG guidelines.
My favorite contribution to this site is adding photos to memorials that do not have them. Most of my memorials come from the random pictures I take at cemeteries. I try to find some sort of information to add to every memorial I create. If I create a duplicate, just let me know and I will delete it and offer any information and photos to the original memorial.
I am noticing more and more contributors who send edit requests and messages who have no way to be contacted in return. If I can't confirm your request with a quick search, I will simply "decline" it. So, if you receive a "decline", or see no change per your request, perhaps it was because I had no way to contact you to ask for sources. I feel that if you opt to receive no messages, then you should not be able to contact anyone else either.
Please, be nice:-)
I will likely ignore bully demands and opinions. Making a suggestion is one thing. Badgering someone to do things your way is completely different.
**Please, when you can, take a minute to clean off grave markers covered in dirt or grass so that they are not buried forever:-)

Thanks for the obit, Terri. It gave me the correct mother and other valuable information, including the wife's maiden name, which gave me a lot more on her.
|Dave Davenport||RE: Mary Walls|
I CAN DO THAT.
|JJFester||RE: Sigman Family/Photos|
Was there anything in the records you saw that confirmed that R. S. Sigman was the same person as Mary's husand?
It seems the C.S.A on his headstone indicates service in the confederate army during the civil war but there are no records on him for the military. There is however a Riley Silvanus Sigman who died of Typhoid, but was not the same age of Mary's husband.
I may have to order a copy of that list when we get paid next.
If the stone is for a different person I am thinking they are related and in the same plot still so maybe the other information you have requested will help with answering this too.
Thank you for all of your help.

Thanks very much for posting a photo of the family marker on all the little ones' memorial pages. It is appreciated.
|JJFester||Transfers and Cornelius Sigman Edit|
Thank you for the transfers. Please keep in touch, I would love to find out what information you find.
Thank you for the edit for Cornelius Sigman, not sure how I forgot to link them when I added him.
If you would like to see my tree on Ancestry with the Sigman's feel free to email me so I can send the invitation to the right person.

Thank you so much for the photos, you have no idea how much all your information means to me after years of having no proof of where R. S. Was buried.
Also, I would love to talk to you about W.S. because I really do think it is W. D. and would like to update the information and add a bio.
Please email me and I can give you the information I have.

They do not have a No Trespassing sign and there is no sign saying No Photos. I am unsure why they are so rude to anyone trying to photograph anything, but have my suspicions based on some Google reviews I read.
There is a sign asking that you be respectful and not enter the graveyard from dusk until dawn. The gates are closed around 6pm (which is not dusk this time of year), but you can go around the gate if you choose to walk. I am not recommending it as I don't know if that constitutes trespassing, but did see some visitors parking outside the gates and taking flowers in.
Frankly, I have never seen a cemetery keep "business hours" and only allow family members to visit on their schedule and ban photographs. It seems odd to me.
Best of luck!

This genealogy bug is one of the most enjoyable addictive hobbies I can think of. I've been doing it since 1983.
