Please feel free to take any photos that I attach and upload them to your family tree. You do not need to ask my permission or credit me for the photograph.
I live in the East Riding of Yorkshire in England and am willing to look for graves etc in the local area.
I am trying to make a full record of the cemeteries I live near and am using local history records to add in the details for headstones which I cannot read or are missing. I started this when tracing my own family tree and my aim is to help anyone tracing their family. I do not want to upset anyone, so if anyone wants me to remove or transfer memorials please let me know.
Tip (Copied from England Discussion Forum): To do a search for cemetery or churchyard in a particular county go to cemetery search and begin with a full search for all in England. Find-A-Grave will say that there are too many records and that you should go back and refine the search so that it returns fewer results. Ignore this and in the address bar at the top of the screen, where the url reads: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=csr&CScn=&CScntry=5&CSst=0 replace the 0 at the end with one of the following codes. There may still be several pages of cemeteries in the list for the county, but it is easier to look through
4205 Bedfordshire 4206 Berkshire 4207 Buckinghamshire 5247 Bristol 4208 Cambridgeshire 4209 Cheshire 4211 Cornwall 4216 County Durham 4212 Cumbria 4595 Derbyshire 4214 Devon 4215 Dorset 4811 East Riding of Yorkshire 4217 East Sussex 4218 Essex 4219 Gloucestershire 4220 Greater London 5248 Greater Manchester 4222 Hampshire 4599 Herefordshire 4224 Hertfordshire 4812 Huntingdonshire 4226 Isle of Wight 4227 Kent 4228 Lancashire 4229 Leicestershire 4720 Lincolnshire 4231 Merseyside 4232 Norfolk 4233 North Yorkshire 4234 Northamptonshire 4235 Northumberland 4236 Nottinghamshire 4608 Oxfordshire 4617 Rutland 4238 Shropshire 4239 Somerset 4240 South Yorkshire 4610 Staffordshire 4242 Suffolk 4243 Surrey 4244 Tyne and Wear 4715 Warwickshire 5249 West Midlands 4247 West Sussex 4248 West Yorkshire 4249 Wiltshire 4601 Worcestershire
RE: St Botolph, Knottingley Thank you for your response. Would it be possible to put down when you enter in on the website, that it is a burial record not a gravestone that the information has come from? And that the gravestone was not visible?
Solomon Waterhouse Thank you so much for the photograph of this memorial. Solomon and Mary are my Great, Great, great grandparents. Their son Solomon was the father of my Great Grandfather Herbert Maudson Waterhouse - the Maudson comes from Mary's maiden name.
Thank you also for the various Axe family memorials in Doncaster. I believe these are probably mostly nieces and nephews of Alice Axe - wife of Solomon Jr.
John Dickinson I have edited birthdate based on photo of headstone which gives age at death of 43 which would make him born 1841. Was hoping it was one of my 2x grandfathers Thanks for all your contributions to the site. I am planning on being a contributor of names in cemeteries here in Canada
Thomas & Maria Bramley photo. Thank you Charlie for Bramley photo. I took mine in August 1996 and it was in disrepair, it appears to have been fixed. Regards, Vivienne, their great, great, great granddaughter, from Bendigo, Victoria Australia.
