The Recording of a Cemetery
Thelma Greene Reagan
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In a heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw there the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lied beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

I want to thank you for your time in taking the photo of my Aunt, she was a pistol of a lady, and her stone was perfect. Please have a wonderful Holiday Season with your family,

Thank you so very much for taking a photo of my GGF brother's grave! I would love to add information I have. Shall I do so directly to his Find A Grave ?
|Patricia Moore||Ann Crothers|
Hi Al. I have submitted a request to the memorial of William Crothers to add Ann as his spouse so I will be declining your request but wanted to provide a reason as a lot of folks don't read the decline reason. Thanks for your efforts. Pat

When uploading photos with Find A Grave's Beta "Upload and Transcribe" program, please do not include photos of headstones with no date of death unless you know for a fact that the person is deceased.
Most of them are "pre-need" stones and will cause invalid pre-need memorials to be created when transcribed.

I saw the maiden name on her death certificate on Ancestry.
