I am a retired career Firefighter from Illinois. My wife and I have also been on a volunteer fire department for years. My mother has been interested in genealogy for more than 50 years and infected us with the bug more than 35 years ago. After retiring, my wife and I really began to do in depth genealogy research and enjoy trying to connect all the family information we can get a hold of. We found that Find-A-Grave was a great tool to use to help locate and link information (like trying to put a big jigsaw puzzle together). We really enjoy going to different cemeteries and taking pictures of stones for requestors across the country. It is always quiet and very seldom does anyone talk back to you.
We have done a lot of work with the cemeteries in Keokuk County, Iowa which is where my parents and several generations of my family came from. We have also started adding names from around our home area in western Illinois.
