In 2006 Mark found the Find A Grave web site when he was searching for some Civil War history in our area. We love helping people find their loved ones and try to add as much information as we can find. We have went searching in the rain, snow, heat, and wind (we like it the least).
After many hours of research we determined that the only way to get good quality, readable photos that would verify the information people wanted and not harm the stones in any way was to use plan water and a very soft brush or to do rubbings of the stones. We have now started retaking some of our first photos that we do not feel were as good as they could be when we get to those cemeteries. We find it very disturbing when we see other volunteers that have put powder, shaving cream and chalk on the older stones and they are deteriorating as it has a chemical reaction with the acid in our rain.
We have met many people we will cherish forever, saw places we would have never seen and experienced adventures we will never forget. We hope to continue for many years and have many more adventures. This past year has been different since I started back to work after being off for 2 years. The summer was so hot and Mark fights skin cancer so we have not gotten to take as many photos as we would like. I've been adding memorials for people in Christian County as that is my home and I have many records for them.
If a family member of any memorial that we have entered would like to take over the ownership of that memorial page please contact us and we discuss transfer of ownership. Do to several requests from people that are not actually related and collecting "surnames" if you are not within 5 generations we may not transfer. We will add "documented" information only to a memorial. Just because you say they need to be linked is not documentation. Please provide obit, death or birth certificates when requesting information be added. If we have entered any information that is incorrect please contact us for a correction. We are here to help people and keep the information as accurate as possible. | |

 | Florence Swackhamer Dear Mark and Kay, There is a Florence Swackhamer in White Oak Cemetery in Henry County, MO with the same dates as the Florence Swackhamer you listed in White Oak Cemetery in Webster County, MO. Is this a mistake? I can't find Florence Swackhamer's grave at White Oak in Webster County, MO. | | | kennith keen
