|Bio and Links|
I have lived in Preble county, Ohio all my life. I love history and this area is rich in it. I grew up running around the historical society and all the wonderful people there instilled a love of history. I'm currently trying to find more info on the veterans buried in the county. Any info is greatly appreciated!|
If you find that I have wrong info on any memorial I have contributed then please click the edit link at the top right of the page. It may take a few days but I'm more than happy to change it. If you would like me to transfer a memorial to you, please use the edit link to ask. You must define a specific relationship. Not just "I knew the person". If I find the reasoning or relationship good enough, then the memorial is yours.
PLEASE DO NOT PLACE BIO INFORMATION IN THE MEMORIAL FLOWERS!! IF U SEND IT TO ME IN THE EDIT TAB I WILL HAPPILY PLACE IT IN THE PROPER SPACE!
Also, please bear with me as my Cholera cemeteries and Veterans cemeteries are works in progress. I am currently going through Preble County's Veterans WPA files and it a long process, as there are over 12,000 veterans buried in our county. Please also feel free to use any photo or memorial I have created in your family histories. Thank you!

Sorry I couldn't get a sharper image. Sarah's side of the monument is in the shade under a tree. It's hard to make out the letters clearly straight on, due to both shadow and reflection. I'll go back when the sun is at a different angle and see if I can improve!

I added a photo for Eric Collins per your request. Next to his grave is Jennifer Collins, who I am assuming was his sister?. (Dec 14, 1985 to May 31, 1986). If you make a memorial for her, I will be glad to add photos.
|Betse Barhorst OKeefe||Hursey|
I added photos to your request for Dorothy Hursey. She is buried with her husband, Eugene. If you create a memorial for him, I will be glad to add photos.
|David Forcade||RE: Andrew Waymire in Preble County|
The only one I know of without a confirmed cemetery is
Frederick Waymire Jr.
Born Mar 15, 1789 in Randolph County, North Carolina
Died 1822 in Preble County, Ohio
I don't know which cemetery he might be in. Several of the family have thus far been found in Westfield Cemetery in Camden, Fairhaven Cemetery, and Lower Lewisville Cemetery in Lewisville, but I couldn't say of those or any other Preble County cemeteries he might have been buried in. It would certainly be a good find if you were to have come across it somewhere.
Thank you so much for all you've already done and good luck with all you will no doubt continue to do.

I am so excited that you found the gravestone for Andrew. Buried for so long and now back to be seen. It looked very good and properly placed now. Did you do the digging, cleaning, and restoring of it?
I know of several ancestors noted as buried in Preble County. Maybe you will stumble across others as you continue your mission...

Louisa Powers. I see that you now manage this memorial. Do you know anything else about her? Are you related to her? I am trying to find a Louisa Powers who is the daughter of Rebecca Law-Powers and a ? Powers. I don't know if this is her or not. And I don't know if they had any other children. Thank you!

Dear History Buff
Thank you for providing a picture of my husbands Great Great Great Grandfather's headstone, via Find a Grave. It is not likely that we will be able to visit Ill in our life time! But the magic of the computer has allowed us to see it without traveling!
I am wondering where you found the photo of Joseph Benjamin Alter that was posted along with the headstone? I have not been able to find any living family that can give me any additional information about JB and if you have a contact, I would sure like to communicate with them.
Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for all your efforts.
