The following memorial is for a dear child abandoned and could use TLC from visitors : Baby Girl April
I've been working on my family's "tree" for several years now and since most of my family burials are nowhere near where I live, Find A Grave has been very helpful to me. I was born in Arkansas but ended up in Texas before I turned one! Family names I am working on are: BLACK, THOMPSON, ALFORD, ELMORE, MARTIN, BOLLS, JESTER, and others. Many of these folks are in Arkansas with some being in Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana (and the occasional drifter out to CA!)
As for the photos I have taken and added to memorials, you are welcome to use them for your personal family trees, on Ancestry.com, etc. No need to ask me first.
And a BIG thank you to all the wonderful volunteers out there who claim my photo requests, inform me of problems and generally just help the whole FindaGrave community!
my grandparents Ben J Hall and Nell E Hall are my Grandparents. Their names were actually James Benjamin Hall and Nellie Hall , my Daddy was their only child. They had 2 sets of twins which were stillborn. My grandmother's twin sister and her husband are buried next to them. My great aunt Maude was quite the jokster , she called my grandmother one day and told her that she had found a place to buy headstones for a very reasonable price , so my grandparents told her to go ahead and order theirs ( this was YEARS before any of them passed away) She and my grandmother didn't have middle names...so she had Nell E ( for Nellie) and Maude L ( she liked the name Louise ) as for my grandpa's , she was always calling him ben Jay ( as in bengay haha ) My Daddy is not buried in that cemetery but my sister is at my grandparent's feet ...my great great grandfather is also buried there , his name was John Henry Lewis and his tombstone reflects that he was a Pvt Co C 18 regiment , Texas Infantry , Confederate States War. My ancestors donated the land for this cemetery . My Mother didn't get along with my grandparents so when my Daddy passed away in 1986 , she had him buried in the Tool cemetery , where her family is buried and where she was born and raised. Anyone in Baird cemetery named Hall , Lewis or Powell are my relatives. You have to drive by the house and land where my grandpa and daddy were born and raised to get to the cemetery ...and where I grew up is only a big garden spot away..the houses are on the right on FM 3080 after you come out of a curve , then the houses are both on the right. My heart still lives there !!
RE: Belated thank you You are very welcome, Mary. It has taken me a while to work thru Memory Gardens, but that's my goal!! It's always exciting to be able to find markers to fulfill requests. I am going to ask the owner for directions to others on the list since my row by row work is taking forever!! Good to hear from you. Linda
