Bio

Lately one of the things that can help me the most is by, WHEN ITS LISTED, to put the birth year on the memorial. Example, if the marker says the person was 18 days old at death, and they died in March, then please allow for at least the birth year to be filled in so we can quickly see out of the three Samuel's in that cemetery that this one was an infant. I am restoring one cemetery (on its own account), and I know that any clue is important. I appreciate it when folks help me acheive this one task I have been trying to edit.

I believe in LANDMARKS (so I can drive 2000 miles and find a marker in minutes without calling ahead) and I believe in uploading even BETTER RESOLUTION (clearer photos due to newer technology even if one photo was already uploaded).

My grave marker photos are often of stones that are older, or in danger of the information being lost. I believe in making sure to capture landmarks near the grave markers so family and friends can find it later. (GPS is fabulous, but not everyone understands how to find it and use it.) If a marker has partial shade on a marker maybe its under a tree, part dirt and part grass might tell me it is on the edge of being under a tree. If the tree is gone later maybe there will be a stump. The date of my photo tells you the marker was still standing at that time. At least in my current restoration work I will take two photos one being close up, one being panned out. I use the FindAGrave app to take photos, but if it slows me down (you need two hands) I might not.

I travel across country and back every summer to visit final resting places so I am forever grateful to those who walked, photographed and transcribed.

Photos are subjective. You are welcome to re-order photos so your choice of photo appears at the top. Can't do that? Deal with it like the rest of us.

How many photos may be added to a memorial page?
per https:// support. findagrave. com /s /article / Questions- about- Photos.
Any member may add a photo to a memorial. Each member can upload 5 photos per memorial....

The above is straight from Admins. If you want change? tell Admins to not allow more than one photo (but, expect them to deny the request as it's not logical).

I have been restoring a cemetery near me since 2012. It's a sweet little cemetery with about 4500 interred, and it's been quite a ride. That takes up most of our time (the team and I, mostly me, but its all of us). We have some super exciting things we are taking on as we speak. (Pinch me this is so cool to be blessed with this opportunity.)

** Say no to bleach, shaving cream, and chalk on grave markers. Nothing except distilled water (ie: leave it out overnight, use de-chlorination drops from the pet store) should be used on grave markers that do not belong to you, or only with permission. **

Want to catch the relief on a stone so you can read, and photograph it? Spritz with DISTILLED water, shine a light on it, get the photo in the snow, whatever but do not clean it with cleaning products unless it is your own grave stone. One of my friends uses a big mirror that they set up to shine light on a marker so they can photograph it.

YOU ARE WELCOME TO MY PHOTOS. If you put my name with the photo that would be good for the next person to know how to locate the original data, but I am good with most anything.
