Not too much to tell - I'm an amateur genealogy researcher and don't care to help out others with their research if I can. I'm retired and have some time available to do this. I believe that all burial grounds are sacred, and that each and every grave means something to someone.

I work mostly the western section of Washington County, TN.

My F-A-G work is somewhat limited. It goes in spurts. I enjoy trying to help folks out. It seems hard to get errors fixed, however. I continue to work locally and, if asked, I try to assist researchers. I work more on graveyard documentation, restoration, and preservation. I appreciate those of you who sent thank you messages, I truly do - you account for about 10 percent of the requests that I process. To the others, please think about your volunteers - they research the locations of the markers, often hike to family cemeteries thru brush and briars, we spend hours and dollars fulfilling requests - It is work and we take it seriously.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind when I get stumped with a Washington County tombstone again. Too bad you're so far from Cocke County, really need someone to photograph the stones at the Allen Cemetery at Wolf Creek. If Betty Walker is still around at the old place I'm sure that she would like to have another historian pay her a visit.

RE: Taylors in Carter
I have no ancestors who participated in the Revolution or Civil War. I come from immigrants who came to America in the 1800's. I used the Find a Grave map and visited the Isaac Taylor cemetery this morning. Was he Nathaniel Green Taylor's father? I've been past there hundreds of times and never noticed it. Thanks!

Cool! I'd like to visit the cemetery but don't have any special interest adding it. I just do that if no one else does. I think it may be in Find A Grave with a different name. Send me an address or directions and I'll let you know. Thanks!!

I took pictures there yesterday and added the cemetery (Old Taylor Cemetery) to Find A Grave. The memorials were added to the wrong Taylor Cemetery and I'm working with their managers to get them transferred.

The cemetery address is 1768 Sylvan Hill Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The Cemetery sits on a hill north west of the house. Mr Reed the property owner was very kind and happy to let me take pictures.

Sorry I missed you.

Thanks for posting the grave photos in the Taylor Cemetery. I couldn't read mine so I didn't know which memorial they belonged to. When were yours taken. Do you have any others?

Amazing! Thanks for going out to the cemetery once again and looking for her and then finding her! Your sleuthing is much appreciated. I wish I knew the history of the family, what they were like besides when they were born and died. There has to be some fantastic stories behind these relatives of mine. Thank you Gordon! maxine

If you would like to send me any of the information on the private cemetery with the photos, feel free to write me at The owners sound like very kind people and I do so appreciate that they let you come on to the property. Of course I appreciate you asking them if you could also! Much gratitude, Maxine

So you got permission to enter the private cemetery! Fantastic! Thank you again for doing this. It must of been a fascinating cemetery. How big is it? Thank you for helping me out with my ancestry. Maxine McKinnon Maass
