A member of the Permian Basin Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Midland, Texas. I am researching all 228 men who died in Vietnam from 30 West Texas Counties. Project includes finding burial sites.|
I am also attempting to locate the final burial places and pictures of all Veterans who died in the Vietnam War. The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Fund is in the process of building a new education center which will house the photos of all Vietnam casualties. I am involved in this project. If any one has a picture of a Vietnam casualty, please let me know.
I am attempting to add memorial tributes to those Vietnam deaths as I find them at findagrave. I am using data from many sources. One of the best is www.virtualwall.org. This is a copyrighted site. I have been a 10 year contributor and assist them when and where I am asked. I am not on their staff. I have obtained permission to utilize some of their material. That permission, however, is limited and does not give other contributors the permission to copy and use that material without obtaining authorization from www.virtualwall.org.
Other sources includes Department of Defense Form 1330 headstone request information. I do not have actual copies of these requests but do have means to obtain copies from other researchers such at www.virtualwall.org and Robert Sage of Austin, Texas. This information, however, was documented a short time following the death of the service member. There have been instances where a service member was disinterred and moved to another grave site at a later date. Some of the information gives a burial locale and not a specific cemetery. In those instances, the headstone was most often delivered to the Funeral Home, or when delivered to a family member, they made their own arrangements to the set the headstone.
Other sites that I utilize is the Wall Project at www.vvmf.org. This is the actual site of the Wall. Some of the information includes other contributors who have documented information there. I attempt to give credit as I can.
Other sites include www.thewall-usa.com. Finally, I have utilized information from family, friends and acquaintances to document the Vietnam casualty's final resting place. Invaluable is the contribution of the findagrave community. These volunteers have assisted in actually locating and documenting burial sites.
There are occasionally errors and omissions, but I will correct that when I receive creditable information.
If you feel that any of the images/words used on this site infringe on YOUR rights, please contact me via EDIT BUTTON FOR CORRESPONDENCE and I will be more than happy to comply with your request and remove them.

I realize the fine work that U do on behalf of the Vietnam veterans and just want to pass on that your query about Sgt. Maurice Brooks (KIA) has been resolved.
It took some off-and-on investigations to locate his unmarked burial site over the course of several years. I went back out several days ago and behold, someone else had taken the time and energy to acquire & have placed a military marker. Case closed.
A job well done, thank U sir. !!!!

I ran across this Marine in the cemetery and didn't notice your normal involvement in his memorial.
Thought maybe you were unaware of him.
I found a pdf file on line that might interest you:
It is a tribute to the fallen members of the Class of 1967. Many of them died in Vietnam so I thought you might find it helpful.
I have checked the link and it did work for me.

Please remove your bio flower. That is not the place for this kind of info. I've added that to the bio section of his memorial.
Also, please delete the photo of the headstone (and any others) that you copied from the ANC Explorer website. While that website states that its photos are for public use, Findagrave prohibits grave photos not taken by the member posting them.

Got lucky and found a marker for Robert here in San Angelo. Don't know if you remember me but we corresponded several years ago about searching San Angelo cemeteries. Keep up all your hard work...

You added a nice portrait photo. I've added a headstone photo today! I was wondering if you considered sending an Edit on his memorial to add the bio information you put in the flower section. I read in the FAQs that we are supposed to put that kind of info in the bio section and that makes sense because the more flowers that get added, your information will eventually get pushed down onto the next "page" and could be missed by researchers. Just a suggestion.
I've put photos on several memorials you have created for veterans, in particular, KIAs. Thank you for memorializing our heroes. I am also a vet (WAC).
