Walking cemeteries is time consuming and sometimes very difficult. Producing a good quality photograph can also be equally time consuming if you clean the stone with water or edit the photo in a computer program. Please follow genealogical guidelines and cite your sources.
Transfer requests can be made with in the guidelines of find a grave: within four generations, siblings, parents, grandparents, greatgrandparents. Please include relationship outside these guidelines.

If requesting a link, please provide the memorial link, accurate link number with full name to prevent incorrect links. Use the edit tab on each memorial you are requesting a modification to.

Remember that Find a grave's prime purpose is as a grave registration website, you should not post duplicate memorials or post photos to a grave that you know is entered incorrectly to a cemetery. This practice leads other people to conclude the grave is located in that cemetery.

Thank-you very much for the beautiful photo of my step-mother's headstone. Living in California, I don't make it to Iowa often these days.

RE: Emmanual Mapes
Nope, no one in Nebraska! Just the loopy local genealogy lady--the one always found out in rural the cemeteries, shooting pictures or trying to get a reading...

RE: Emmanual Mapes
Thanks for linking Emmanual--and sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I did spend some time trying for something more concrete, but have only proximity and best guess. Sure wish I could come up with a marriage record for Emmanual and Sarah Parker. John Mapes was in Jackson Co., Indiana in 1830; Emmanual was there in 1840, when John had moved on north into Bartholomew Co. It's possible Sarah was Quaker--big Parker family in the Quaker community here--and they demurred to get civil marriage licenses. The cemetery where John Mapes is buried has (or had) nominal Quaker connections, so it's not unlikely, even if the Mapes themselves had some other religious tradition. Thanks for all your good work!
