A little about me...
Glasgow High School graduate
Western Kentucky University:
Bachelor of Arts Degree
Masters - Folklore
I have always enjoyed oral history at an early age. Wish I had asked more questions now... In 1994 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, went through surgery and chemo, I was given 3-6 years to live. So after I recovered from the treatments, in 1996 I decided to sell my home of 20 years and go on the road to research my family 1st-hand that were in my family files. I became a "fulltimeRVer" for six years; following the paths of my ancestors was a memorable experience and very humbling at times. I visited so many places I would never have visited otherwise... courthouses, libraries, cemeteries, meeting family and getting to actually stand on family land that my ancestors owned. Well, I am still here, I guess I still have ancestors to find and their stories to tell..... the oral history is out there, I just have to find the descendant that it was passed down to..

In addition to my family lines, I research Allen, Barren, Butler, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe and Warren Counties in KY. (South Central KY)

pic of Joseph W. Evans' grave stone
Laura,

Thank you so much for the photo of my 2 great grandfather, Joseph W. Evans. I believe he married two times. First to my 2 great grandmother, Elizabeth Warder, in 1824 and later to Matilda Ritter in 1840.

Again, I greatly appreciate your time and kindness!

Kinslow Cemetery #5
While searching for the graves of my husband's ancestors, I discovered your description/comments explaining that the Kinslow#5 cemetery was destroyed. I believe my husband's ggggrandfather, Andrew Carpenter Kinslow was buried there. I was hoping to take a picture of his headstone and visit his grave. Can you tell me what happened to those graves ? Were the bodies moved elsewhere? We live in Texas but came the Barren County this week to do some genealogy research. I really appreciate any info you can give me.
Thanks!
Sue

RE: Mary Ford
Hello,
John L and Mary Ford are listed as being in Fairview Cemetery Section J Row 8.
I could not find any listings for Johns father or mother. Fairview would not been opened when either one of them died so Old Brownstown is a good bet I can not verify it. John Sr. had a brief mention in the Seymour Times issue of March 27, 1862 which gave his date of death as March 18, 1862.
If the parents were moved to Fairview at a later date they do not have markers.

Nancy Jane Gist Williams
I have seen your memorial for Nancy Jane Gist Williams. I am seeking information about her sister Martha Ann Gist Headrick and her parents Bayless and Nancy Ray Gist. I have the information in the Christopher Gist book but do not have proof of those dates. Do you have information that might help me? I would appreciate any help you can offer. Thank you.

RE: Thomas Smithwick photos
These were among the possessions of Ed Baker (150144556), a high school classmate. Several classmates & I cleaned out his apartment after he died. His mother had albums of old family photos, including Baker & Michel. These are now in the possession of Ed's sister Sharon, after I scanned them. You can contact me at dlgray@bluemarble.net if you want more information. I have a genealogy file of about 500 persons in his family.

Thanks for change of cemetery name
Thanks Laura for the change of cemetery name for Asenath "Senie" Bewley Britt and her husband John F Britt. I had them in the Bewley Burial Ground and moved them to Pleasant Home Cemetery via your request. I couldn't find them on the Barren County Cemetery Site or the Book, Barren County Cemetery Records in this cemetery, but I do see it list this cemetery in Bewleytown section of Barren County...You are such a great helper to keep me straight on my finds....Thank you so much.
