To keep weeds out of the beautiful Find A Grave garden....

First, I don't link to Burial Unknown Site Memorials as BU shouldn't be on FAG according to the guidelines of the website. The first criteria for making a memorial on FAG is having the burial site, as this is a grave registration site. When you made a BU, you have a chance of losing the memorial to the member who "Find A Grave" in the cemetery.

Second, I may or may not transfer outside of the guidelines to an established member. It is my choice. Long-time hard working-members, who are busy in surveying cemeteries and taking grave photos impress me more than someone who is collecting others' memorials for their personal goal or waiting for someone to find the burial sites for their numerous memorials made with an "unknown burial site".

Lastly, there are no duplicated memorials on FAG. If I find a duplicated memorial while researching this site, there is 99% chance that it will be deleted or merged eventually.

You may disagree with the guidelines but remember the guy who started Find A Grave wrote them. He is the boss.

Many of the memorials transferred to me were done without my request for them. These memorials have found a home and will be nurtured.

Also, thank you for all the flowers and tokens left on my family's memorial. They are all sincerely appreciated by me and my family.

Remember to check on the Discussion Forums here. They are very newsy, helpful and interesting!

I leave nasty postings on my profile page so others can see just how rude and stupid people can to others. Most read and laugh.

Thanks Linda. I'll contact Rick and ask him to post both obits to the individuals involved. I've been submitting a lot of duplicates lately just from our local cems. Keep up the good work! -- Merrily

Hi Linda - I can't find the BU memorial you mention that Rick Read left an obit on. Every once in awhile my search for a BU doesn't produce a return so maybe it's happening to me again. There is a headstone for him on BG in Woodlawn Cem. Or perhaps you contacted Rick. -- Merrily

RE: Duplicated grave memorials
Hello again Linda,
William Pruett's original grave was moved by the Corp of Engineers in 1957. The 1st memorial was made by someone that guessed he was buried at a Cemetery where his parents were buried BUT according to the paper work of the Corp of Engineers it says he was moved from Thornton's Cemetmery to Island Ford Cem. and so that is all the explanation I have for these 3 different memorials. My mission on Find A Grave is not to annoy you but it's to connect my family members. May you have a blessed Day. Valerie
