I am new to genealogy (2012 is relatively new compared to most people), but I'm enjoying all of my discoveries! I am researching the Danby and Rutland, Vermont branches of these families: Bromley, French, McGowan, Ackert, Baker/Belanger, Crosby, as well as the New Jersey and New York City families of Lynch and Rooney. I have a variety of research interests in New England, Canada, Ireland, England, and Scotland. |
I enjoy collaborating with others. If you see errors or additions for my memorials, please let me know. The work is never done!

|Jess E. Bromley||Question?|
We are trying to find out where Ada (Porter) Allen is buried in Danby and I was wondering if you might know. Her family line is as follows;
Rachel Bromley (daughter or Joshua) mother of Hortense Odell who was the mother of twins Ida and Ada Porter
Rachel Bromley 2nd marriage to a man named Odell, her first marriage was to a David Odell who died years before Hortense was born (We are not sure who Hortense father actually was but he was supposed to be a relative of David Odell)
Hortense Odell married Isaac Porter
b. 19 Jul 1857,
Wallingford, VT (birth record)
m. 8 Jul 1874, Wallingford, VT, Horace D. Allen
d. 5 Apr 1924, Danby, VT (death record); no burial records of gravestones in Rutland Co., for either Ada or Horace. Bet they were buried on their own land.
This Ada and her husband Horace are who we are looking for. Any ideas?
Hope you can follow this.
Thank you very much

Glad I was able to help you with the photo's, for some reason I keep missing there gravestone every time I went. I'll definitely take a look to see if William's parents are there also.

Hi Rebecca, Just wanted to let you know I was finally able to fulfill your photo request for Sarah "Sadie" French in Section B Lot 273 and also added a memorial for her husband William French who is buried with her.

Hi Rebecca, it was raining pretty hard while we were in the cemetery yesterday. My daughter and I are searching out the graves. I will go into the office and check to see if his wife is in there and if so I will let you know any info I find out. Jan

You are so welcome. I love it when a plan works out and one more mystery is solved.
Happy hunting, Alan

I got a picture of Esther's headstone today in Bridport Central, VT, (very hard to read) and she is buried beside Eunice Daney (maybe Dana?) and no other stones in this area. I will add Eunice too.

I recently tried to fulfill your request for Esther Miller at Bridport Central Cemetery, Bridport, VT. I was unable to find a gravestone for her. However, I did find a listing for her in the Burial Listing available at the Bridport Town Hall, compiled by Wallace L. Payne in 1968 and updated by Fletcher Brush in 2005, as follows: Esther Miller, born 1807, died 26 Apr 1838, aged 31, row 18, col 133. (I could not find a gravestone for her in this vicinity.) Also, Esther was the only Miller in the listing. I did not know to check for listings under the name of Dana at the time, so sorry. Hope this helps your search.
