Born in 1947 in Indianapolis, IN. Married with 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren. I've been doing genealogy research for over 24 years, am now living in the midst of at least 6 counties in which my family and my husband's family have had connections and have already reconnected with many ancestors and descendants.|
I'm an avid historian of American History, a member of the DAR through a very dedicated chapter in Crawford Co., IL and am very concerned about the destruction and disrepect shown to our pioneer cemeteries. I have completed pioneer cemetery restoration classes through the IN Hist. Soc. and, with my sister's help, have repaired and reset several headstones this summer including researching and reclaiming an abandoned family cemetery...The Burk Cemetery... in Adair Co.,KY. Death records and research proved at least 30 burials at the site. Only two headstones remain. With limited funds, I put together a memorial headstone and built a cemetery sign. The cemetery is now on state records.
The people buried in these cemeteries are us. They toiled, laughed, cried and struggled in adversities we will never know and adversities we can well relate to and from that, we can draw strength. Regardless of why we post their burial sites, they were also loved and respected by someone and deserve to be remembered. This site is purposely set up so that we can SHARE our info, not for self glorification based on our contribution.
I would hope part of the ulitmate goal is to show respect for the human race, living or dead. Be assured that if I post one of your ancestors or your mother or father or child, however they are related, I have absolutely NO reason to keep it under my control if you want to maintain it and will gladly transfer it immediately. I DO NOT OWN the information I have chosen to share on this website. After all, if it's someone from whom you are genetically descended, you are bound to feel a responsibility for them. They are YOUR Family and YOUR loved ones. And I'm very glad that I helped you find them.

Done. However, were you aware that you can suggest that change from the post itself? It's more convenient for both sides, and the change occurs automatically after three weeks if the recipient ignores it.

Thank you so much for the gravestone picture of my 3rd great grandmother. So glad the stone, though somewhat broken, still exists.

Thanks a lot for the photo. I added a memorial for his wife, Maxine. Would you add the photo to her memorial # 129153157. From the photo of that church, it looks like the church has a distinct look to it. Is it brick or?

I want to compliment you on your restoration work. I was researching Abner Witt m. Milly Barnett, when I came across your memorial for Nancy Holman. Nancy was Abners sister and is my 3rd greatgrandmother. After her divorce from William she returned to live with her parents. I never imagined her to have ever left Estill Co. let alone go to Indiana. If this is the right Nancy, you have a wonderful discovery. Everyone assumes she was buried in the Witt Cemetery in Estill Ky. If you ever return to the Burnett Cemetery, would you please recopy the inscription. I would love to know what it says. I have her son G.W.'s bible and he has written a verse for Nancy Holeman in the Memorandum. Wouldn't it be amazing if it was the same inscription. If you would like any other information on Nancy just write. Thank you for all that you do. Mary Lavezzari

Jennefer - I am so excited you claimed the records for the Bolanders. I just recently found out that I (think) I must be related to everyone in Lawrence Township, Marion County and Hancock County....I completed the DNA testing with Ancestry.com and compared it to the Bolanders in Kansas and Missouri and it matched 6 generations ago. Their line migrated West during the 1800's....Your a dear one...Thanks, Pat
