I live in Union County, Indiana. I was born and raised in Fayette. My mother's side of the family lived in both of these counties with my 4th great grandfather, John Templeton, being the first land owner in Union County. My Father was from Albany, Indiana, but his parents were from Gallia/Lawrence County, Ohio and before that Pocahontas County (West) Virginia. |
I am currently the Union County Indiana Historian and work at the Union County Public Library.

Many thanks again for your adding bark to the branches on my family tree. Ken Hallock
|Marc Doty||RE: Arah M. (Barcus) Ammerman|
My first thought was that the cemetery records were correct. But the middle initial of "M." threw me off. I needed to know what that stood for. I found her on the 1880, 1900, and 1910 census with her name spelled: Arah. (I couldn't find her on the 1870 or 1920 census.) I looked at your post again and figured her middle name was probably: Minta. But why does the cemetery have Sarah and Arahminta (should be one or the other)?
So, the way I look at Find a Grave is: it is just another source for information. This is a site of photographs of headstones with the inscriptions transcribed. Right or wrong - this is the headstone. I like adding links and other info - but, it has to be correct. With this one, I can't be confident that her name is anything besides what is on the headstone. I can, however, add a note mentioning the cemetery records.
|William Dillon||Sanders Longitude|
In plotting local cemeteries, I found that the longitude for Sanders if off by 1 degree. It should be -82 instead of -81.
Again, thanks for the pictures of my Creed relatives' graves! I appreciate it so much.
