I am new to this and want to be able to help others if I can like I have been helped. I am in a wheel chair due to auto accident when I was 29 but I am able to get out and search cemeteries in order to help others. Been searching for my ancestors since 2003 when I got my computer before that I spent days at the Louisville library searching their records and have some good luck and some stone walls . I go into genealogy chat to learn more . Every day is a learning experience for me .So far most of my family am searching is in KY.
I was born and raised in Louisville,KY,so I know Louiville pretty well and its easy for me to search their cemeteries as well as the few that are close to me . The majority of my family is buried at Cave Hill and Resthaven but I can go to any of them .
My parents are Ruth L Baker Powell Beasy, her parents were Nellie Frances Emmons Baker and Ernest L Baker Sr. her gr grandparents were Charles L Emmons who was married to a Mary Thompson Emmons. Her gr grandparents on the Baker side was Levi Baker and Ida Bell Arnold
My father was Vernon Powell, his parents were Fred Powell Gr grandparents were Edward Lawrence Powell and Mattie Belle Morrison Powell. Zowa F. LaCrosse Powell ( his mother) was the daughter of daughter of Philip LaCrosse of Montreal Canada and Gabrielle Cameron LaCrosse Thomas
RE: Olive Irby Bulleley, I remember you, Sandra, and hope you're doing well. Olive is a direct ancestor of mine as well so I'd like to retain her memorial. I mention my Bulkeley descent on the memorial of my 3rd-great-grandmother, Martha Jane Trotter Sidener (1836-1917), in case you'd like to look up her details.
Ella Cameron Hi Sandy: I was looking at the memorial of Ella (Gabriella) Cameron Thomas and noticed that Loenard Clifford Thomas, her son, was not listed. He was the twin to Aline and needs to be added to this page. Born 16 Aug 1885 in Louisville, Kentucky and died 25 November 1918, in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. Leonard was my grandfather.
Thanks for adding this to her page. (I don't know if you remember me or not, we have emailed previously). I hope your health is doing well. Thanks for your help in this. Shauna Lund email@example.com
I think I have kinda solved the mystery only to find a bigger one.LOL
I found an application for a flat bronze military marker that was ordered and sent and installed at the gravesite HOWEVER, looking at the actual document on ancestry.com the marker was ordered DESTROYED on April 16, 1962. WHY? Did the government actually ORDER it destroyed or was it destroyed by some act in the cemetery? Will we ever know?
Just thought that you might like to know as you even got the cemetery workers out there with a shovel, it is interesting that his file in the cemetery did not mention the destruction or vandalism. Thanks again for all you do.
Adam Arnold I saw that you left flowers on the Adam Arnold memorial and was wondering how you were related? He is my 4th great grandfather and would love to compare notes. My email address is on my profile.
Aaron Mills Thanks so much for sending picture of headstone. There are so many Aaron Mills from the 1800's and so confusing looking for my great-great gr. father. This is another clue in the mystery. Thanks again. Carol Schwartz
