My interests in genealogy lies with my family's roots in southern West Virginia. Walkers on my mothers side and Hatchers on my fathers side. My cousin wrote a 700 plus page book of the Walker History going back to 1734. I took an interest of photographing headstones of ancestors in the cemeteries I was familiar with and then it spread out to larger ones in Beckley and now I am trying to find EVERY cemetery named in this book. I am compiling a photo album of headstone pictures and Find A Grave printouts and cross referencing them to the page they appear on in the Walker History book. I will never ask for a transfer of a memorial that I am not related to the person. I hope one of these days my grandson and future generations to come will appreciate our efforts. |
Thanks to Find A Grave volunteer photogs I have received headstone pictures as far away as California and Oregon. Once, while visiting my in-laws in southern Texas, I went to Ft. Sam Houston and found the grave of my third cousin that was killed in WWII. I have a cousin, Sheila Lewis Underwood, that has created our family tree on Tribal Pages using this same Walker history book and in collaberation with her our childrens' childrens' children can look back on our history in awe.
Other family names in my genealogy are Lilly, Meadows, Wallace, Woods, Daniels, among others.
Before you send an edit request for names, dates, or links, please provide proof backing up your information. I won't change or add any information on my memorials without official documentation, such as; marriage license, death certificates or newspaper obituaries. Just because you say so, doesn't mean it is. Please provide documentation to prove your edit requests. I don't particularly trust census reports or information someone posted on ancestry sites to be adequate proof, so if you could, please provide documents listed above. I'm into this for accurate proof on my memorials, not for numbers where census reports are used to create memorials with problems, just to get a number on my profile.

NICE AND COOL OF THE EVENINGS AND A GREAT TIME TO WALK AMONG THE STONES. Glad I can help
|Keith Meadows||RE: Mills|
Just related to them via that marriage between Elijah Preston Meadows and Byre Mills. I've tried to find all of Elijah's wives but I'm obviously still a few short. The great side of it is that I have made contact with several of Byre's grandkids.

I am related to everyone in southern West Virginia. But most of the time I just follow a genealogy thread wherever it takes me. I was researching the family of Sarah Justice Vest (wife of my great uncle Ethiel) which led me to Austin Justice which led me to his wife Lena Edna Wood, daughter of Henry Walter Wood and Arminta Frances Mills of Egeria. I have most of my closer family members on West Virginia Memories. http://wva.homestead.com/

You're welcome! We were at the Shrewsbury Family Reunion on Memorial Day, so I took a few photos. We plan to go back up there sometime and photograph the entire cemetery. Ruthie Mills is my husband's best friend's grandmother. His name is Steward Mills; his dad was Olen Mills and his grandmother was Ruthie Mills.

I've been slowly getting all of John and Minervia's kids tied to them but I feel I've gone as far as current available info will carry me.
Horace was noted on his birth record as child #14 for Minervia.
The known missing are:
Neta Lillith Mills McKinney(4/21/1895-?) was #13
Loma Mills (2/28/1893-?) was #11
Mary Donie Mills Lowe (~1886-10/13/1912) I believe I have found her info just need to get a picture of her headstone to verify which one of the cemeteries she is in and I'll put her in.
That leaves one missing between Neta and Soma that I have no current clues on.
