My earliest known ancestors are James and Catherine (Thomas) Adams. They were born in 1800-1810 in TN & NC respectively. They moved to Ray County Missouri in the fall of 1837 along with a wagon train caravan of the Grimes, McGlothin, Yoakum, Kincaid, and VanBebber families. I am seeking info on their early life (prior to 1840) as well as info on their children, and descendants.|

Hi Elise. Would you consider turning over Clarence Adams memorial to me? 59471553
I sent a request to add Chesley as his father. Kristi has ordered Clarence's birth certificate from North Carolina and hopefully it tells us who his mother really is. Everything says Rosa but on the census it has him being born in Florida along with the woman that is living with them Elizabeth Yates. Another mystery. I started an Adams Family page on facebook. If you ever get on there let me know.

Thank you for expressing your interest and appreciation of documenting the memorials in Lower Sturgeon Cemetery. I went with some trepidation because it is so remote but it's a lovely peaceful spot and I enjoyed my day very much. My mom is from Big Falls and she told me about the cemetery and that she had a friend at Sturgeon River Landing when she was young. Thanks for taking the time to write the message. It's good to hear back from family members.

I added her information from a cemetery list, which means that she had a marker at the time (1970s). If you want to put in a photo request, we should be able to get up there in the next few days.

Hi Elise. Not sure why I left flowers on that Cobb grave. Will go to Find a Grave and look at it. Right now I don't have a FTM in my computer with all my genealogy on it. I had to get a new comouter and have some thing I need to do before I can add the genealogy back in. Will look and see if anything rings a bell. I live close to Shidmore, in St. Joseph, MO. Now I am curious.

Thank you for expressing your gratitude on the headstone photos for the Geissingers. If you would like me to transfer management of their memorials, let me know and I will be happy to transfer them to you.
Have a wonderful day!

And this August was the younger brother of Aliina's father Olli Rissanen (born 1863).
Though now we have to remember that August Rissanen is pretty common name among the Rissanen family so this particular August might be a more distant relative - but they all are related. The forefather of the Rissanen family is actually known, he lived in the 16th century. There is many books about the Rissanen family in Finnish so your friends might be lucky to trace their ancestry to the 1500's.

Actually one of Aliina Rissanen's uncles was called August Rissanen and he was born 1879 (the birth date might be wrong in many American records as I have noticed is the case with many of my Finnish relatives). I know only that one of her granddaughters is a professor and doctor of medicine in Finland. Though she might be child of another son who did not come to US or returned to Finland at some point?
Interestingly two of Aliina's sisters immigrated to US in 1920's and actually there is still many descendants living in US though their surname is not Rissanen.
