These heroes are dead. They died for liberty - they died for us. They are at rest. They may or may not sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless, under the solemn pines, the sad hemlocks, the tearful willows, and the embracing vines. They sleep beneath the shadows of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or of storm, each in the windowless Place of Rest. Earth may run red with other wars - they are at peace. In the midst of battle, in the roar of conflict, they found the serenity of death. I have one sentiment for soldiers living and dead: cheers for the living; tears for the dead. |
~ Robert G. Ingersoll
There are many individuals, who's efforts past and present have kept these memories alive and not forgotten on the internet,
Please have the courtesy to acknowledge their efforts should you choose to use the information that they have worked hard to compile. For me a simple © Michael V. Drachman 2000-2014 works for any of my bio's, (pictures ©) . should you use them elsewhere, say ancestry.com or other such sites or a personal web page.
PLEASE.... DO NOT POST ANY DEATH CERTIFICATES, CENSUS RECORDS. on the memorials I manage. Many of these DC's contain very personal and unnecessary information for these memorials.
INSTEAD,, take a minute and the information from these certificates and write a general bio, if one is not posted, send it to me through the edit tab, YOU get the credit for your efforts with a link to you inside Find-a-grave with your contributor number. This goes for obituaries as well but remember to include the paper and published dates. Thanks
In the end, never let yourself become complacent to those who have went before us, always make time to remember the sacrifices that they made to secure our Freedom and protect our rights as Americans....
Happy Gravin :-)

Michael - I can't thank you enough for the photo of Earon F Duke's marker in Lorraine, France. I searched and searched, looking for one without any success. Thanks to you he now has one on Find-a-Grave. I really appreciate your finding this and posting it.
You brought tears to my eyes; we have never seen his stone before.

'Like a leaf dropped upon water...the ripples of your thoughtfulness spread on and on to touch the lives of others...' You'll never even know how many lives you have touched by posting the pictures of the headstones of the soldiers that are buried in this cemetery. Our group here in Paris, Texas, is grateful for your thoughtfulness.
