I went to Iowa today to specifically look at the Tallman monument, simply because I was doing work on their daughter's (Adella Tallman Powers) family and had traced her mother to 1910 and when i found Jessie's memorial in Find A Grave, and the comment that it couldnt be his wife, when I looked at the photo, I knew there was no way that the age said 17 so I went there to take a new photo and prove to myself and her living decendants that she was infact his wife not a granddaughter that didnt exist, as far as my research showed, i didnt even know there was a photo request until I posted the photos. you are right the birthdate is 29 Dec 1828, I fat fingered the keys lol..which is the year that all my researches have said her birth year was. I did leave "SAC" with the member that created the memorial. I dont know what the "IAGENWEB" site has to do with Memorials on Find A Grave though. Im just glad that we know her final resting place, is with Jessie, there are other names on the Monument, but she is the only one I was concerned with, although I did proceed to take almost 200 photos of the cemetery. I have also located her parents and will try to get them linked to her.
|Dianne Rhodes||Frederick A Rhodes|
Wow!! Thanks. I do have a newspaper copy of Frederick A Rhodes' obituary. That makes us 4th Cousins, I think. I found absolutely nothing on the web regarding Nettie Steel, his first wife and my great grandmother. Went to the Yellow Creek cemetery to see John and Amanda Steel grave and there was Nettie's grave right next to it. I've spent a lot of time trying to track down what went on with Nettie and Fred. His obituary sounds like he totally lost track of their kids even tho the youngest was only 16. Just one line in the family Bible about Nettie's death but apparently she and the kids were living with her parents in Yellow Creek when she died of unknown cause 28 August 1892. Her parents obviously handled her burial and headstone. After her death all but Irv remained with Nettie's parents. Never found Nettie's obit despite LOTS of searching. There is a family rumor that there was some sort of falling out between the Rhodes and Steele families but that's all I know. Any further info passed down thru your family?

Florence M Smith & her husband and two sons are inscribed on one side of the grave stone, and Martin L Feeser, Anna E & John E Feeser on the other side of the grave stone.

Yes, William & Jennie Beveridge are buried on the same lot, it appears that a large tree fell and knocked over some stones and unfortunately theirs was one of them. Please submit another photo request, and I'll check back and see if the cemetery fixes the stone. It was face down and too heavy to try to lift. William Beveridge 1862-Feb 20, 1940 died in Harrisburg and Jennie Beveridge 1862-Apr 29, 1939 died in East Pennsboro Twp. If you're interested in other Beveridge family members in PA, the death index online is a great help:

Much appreciated! I have some much family history in that area I will have to get back some day. In the meantime the photo helps me continue to put the family pieces together.
