Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born and raised in Sewickley, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, but am now living in California. As far back as I can remember I have had an interest in knowing more about my ancestors, thanks to my grandmother Pearl (Webster) Buchanan who would talk about her Hawk and Webster family connections. She had great heartwarming tales about them all.

My ancestor surnames include the following: Armstrong, Buchanan, Cain, DeLong (DeLange), Doty/Doten, Fish (Fyshe), Hawk (Hawke, Hawks), Jennings, Johnson (Johnston), McCandless, Maitland, Mattox (Mattocks), Moore, Sackett, Sumney, Thompson and Webster. Many of them were born, raised their families and died in the Pennsylvania areas of Butler, Mercer and Venango Counties.

The Armstrong and Fish families originally settled in the New York area after arriving from England. The Delongs/DeLanges, from the Netherlands, also settled in the New York area. The Doty/Doten and Sackett families settled in and around Plymouth and Springfield, Massachusetts and the Webster family (also from England) arrived in Connecticut in the mid 1600s. The Armstrongs, Buchanans, McCandlesses and Moores were from Ireland and the Sumneys from the Alsace area in France/Germany. Any information on any of these families would be greatly appreciated.

William Robb
Hi Judy,

I am researching some Sumney names and i cannot find Annie, daughter of John Sumney b. 1836 and his wife Evangeline. I did see that there was a Mrs. William Robb listed in John's obit, and when I found a William Robb, I saw that he was your submission AND that you have the Sumney name in your surname list. Is William Annie Sumney's husband?

thanks!!

RE: David Porterfield
Not a problem. I'm slowly working my way through that cemetery. It is really, really large and all of the stones are flat to the ground so you can't just drive through and find anyone in particular. It was just one of a group of photos taken that fulfilled your request.

Bowser is one of my family names. Our group was mainly from the Armstrong county area. Any relations there?

(You know how we genealogy people are with names!)

It was my pleasure! I was lucky to find the Nebraska photos while sitting in my chair over here in Michigan. There may be others you seek at this site... http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~negreele/cemeteries/cem-sacredheart/index.htm
I am working on posting as many as I can. I have several relatives there, and I recognize many of the family names via my mom and grandparents stories. I credit .....

RE: Samuel Janes
You are very welcome! I noticed in your bio that you have Buchanans in your family. My maiden name was Buchanan and my Buchanan ancestors from Ireland settled in the Lancaster, PA area before moving on to OH, IN, IL and further west. Perhaps we have some relatives in common.
