Hi, I was born and grew up in Pikeville, Bledsoe County, TN. Since I began researching my family tree in 2007, I have learned many things about thousands of relatives that I had never known about. |
I know there are many people who are, or soon will be, searching for their roots as well. I hope the information that I place on this website will assist them in locating a long-lost relative.
I'm researching the following family lines, as well as MANY OTHER LINES associated with Bledsoe County, Tennessee and MANY OTHER STATES: Allison, Anderson, Bowman, Boyd, Bradford, Campbell, Clifton, Cooke, Craig, Curry, Green, Hale, Hall, Hawkins, Holland, Larcome, Massey, Maxwell, McCoy, Pendergrass, Pleasants, Russell, Simmons, Skillern, Snow, Stanton, Steip, Stipe, Stipes, Wheeler, and others.
I'm thrilled to report that, after a multi-year effort, I'm now the proud owner of one of the elusive "Skillern Family History and Genealogy" book.
My private database contains in excess of 119,000 individuals, although I have posted only a tiny percentage of my data on Ancestry.com Family Tree, Find A Grave, etc.
I recently had my DNA analyzed through Ancestry.com and 23andMe.com. The information contained in these test results continues to be invaluable to me in my quest to learn more about my family history, my health, and where my ancestors lived thousands of years ago.
According to my haplogroup, my Boyd line is believed to have originated in a place now known as Doggerland. You can learn more about it at the following websites:

ANCESTORS OF YESTERDAY
Ancestors of so long ago,
I'll search until I find.
Till I can prove and clearly show,
that you are truly mine.
I'll follow behind your trail of tears,
the hidden footprints of time.
Covered and buried throughout the years,
and continue each mountain to climb.
I'll search every faraway seaside shore,
and every valley below.
I'll unlock each and every door,
as my own teardrops flow.
I'll unearth the buried history of you,
and your own ancestral kin,
I'll search for that all important clue,
and open my heart to let you in.
Your tombstone stands among the rest:
Neglected and alone,
The name and date are chiseled out -
on polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care,
It is too late to mourn -
You did not know that I exist,
You died and I was born.
Yet, each of us are cells of you:
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse -
entirely not our own.
Dear ancestor, the place you filled,
a hundred years ago -
Spreads out among the ones you left,
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew -
That some day I would find the spot;
And come and visit you?

|D. Lee Waterman||Western Waterman|
I live in Laclede County, Missouri where Western Waterman moved to around 1860. I am descended from his son James Western Waterman. Have you traced Western's ancestry, and have you come to any conclusions as to who his father was for sure?

|Tazgirl||Boyd, Flippo and other Family Names|
Hi, My name is Roxanne Jordan. I'm not sure if I have the correct Sammy or not. If I'm correct you would be my late husband's uncle. My late husband was James Lloyd Jordan Jr. and grandson of Gracie Lottie Pearl Flippo and James Elbert Jordan. I ran across your profile while searching for my husband's father's family (Flippo's). I saw where you had left several flowers on the memorials. I would like to share more information on this family. I'm also interested in your Mother's side. My Grandmother was a Simmons as well. It would not surprise me if there is a connection, between my Grandmother's and Your Mom's, for I have found many connections between my husband's and my Grandmother's side. I did try to match some of the names with what you have but no such luck. Some of the Surnames that would be on my grandmother's side would be Holmes, Ryan, Smith, and Landcaster. If any of these names are in your tree please contact me by email@ firstname.lastname@example.org or message me here on findagrave.com. Any information that you can direct me on would be appreciated.
