In February 2006, after 30 years of service, I retired from the U.S. Forest Service, having spent most of my career working on the Daniel Boone National Forest, as a Law Enforcement Officer. Since that time, I have found this site and renewed my interest in geneology.
I started collecting information shortly after my Grandfather, Ben Culbertson, died in 1983. I realized that I knew very little about my ancestors and began interviewing living relatives and making trips to local cemeteries to get information. Soon I discovered that I was having to return to the same cemetery to get additional information. So I began recording all the names in each cemetery while I was there and soon had enough information that I decided to attempt to locate and record all the cemeteries in that area. Eventually, I collected information on some 43,750 people, in 1,189 cemeteries, in Menifee, Montgomery, Powell and Wolfe Counties. This information was then put into book form and copies placed in each county library. I also have information on cemeteries in Estill and Morgan Counties. Anyone needing information on persons or cemeteries in these counties may contact me and I will try to help.
Since finding this site, I have been placing my research online. Most of my information is downloaded from my personal computer. My files and FAG format does not match exactly, so if you find a mistake or want to add information, I will make the correction. I will be glad to transfere any memorial that is not my personal family. Just contact me through FAG and give me your FAG number and the person's FAG number you want transfered to you. | |
