I currently am in St Clair Shores, Michigan, although I try to make it home to Belton, South Carolina as often as possible. |
When I'm not working on genealogy or in cemeteries, I homeschool my son, play in my (small) garden and harbor a nearly unhealthy love for old houses.
99% of the photos I have put up have been cropped and resized. If you would like the original, please feel free to let me know and I'll send it to you.
If I have sent you a Suggest a Correction with corrections, information that your memorial may be a duplicate, or notice that your memorial is in the wrong cemetery, please don't take it personally!
I welcome any corrections, additions or duplicate notifications and will try to get them corrected as soon as possible. Please make sure that the information you send is accurate - this is a database and does no one any good if the information is inaccurate. Speculation is great and often leads to facts, but please keep it to your personal files!
Please, if you send me an obituary to add that you did not write yourself, you MUST include the publication it came from and the date it was published. To comply with copyright rules (and F.A.G. regulations), I can't put an un-sourced obituary on any memorial.
Before adding ANY photo to ANY memorial (not just those made by me) take the time to read the F.A.G rules (and copyright rules in the US). If a photo appeared on an obituary and it was NOT taken by you, IT IS NOT OKAY TO ADD IT. A photo appearing in "public" does NOT give you the right to take the photo and use it elsewhere.

Thank you. I appreciate your expedience in this matter. I understand part of the theory behind the site and that it will be hard to stop people from taking pictures in what are for the most part public spaces. The most upseting parts of the situation are the facts that you are required to pay a fee to have ads removed from the pages and that the sites creator just made millions by selling the site to ancestry.com. The families that have had pictures unknowingly placed on that site deserve some of that money. I intend to explore holding the owners of the cemetaries more accountable for security and privacy as well as exploring avenues of accountabilty for the site itself.

Please remove this memorial. This is my husbands grave and I feel this is a complete invasion of privacy. Anyone that deserves to pay respects to him knows where to go to do this. You and the owner of this website have no right to profit from his death. You have no idea what his family went through with his illness and untimely death. I assume that you feel that you are doing some sort of service but you are not. How dare you. How would you feel if you lost a loved one and someone tried to exploit it? His resting place is sacred and deserves to be respected. I have attained an attorney and since you are from Belton I am certain that I will soon find a way to contact you so that you can confirm that the appropriate action has been taken.

Thank you so much for the transfer. I found last night that you and I had both created a memorial for Uncle Billy on the same day. I will delete mine as soon as I make all of the family links in yours.
I am not in the habit of deleting any picture files EVER. About the only reason I delete is when I have duplicates of a grave or family plot. What I have is a lot of sub-folders in my "system." Within my pictures folder, everything is normally separated into folders by date, but I now have a folder for Find-a-Grave. Within that folder, there is a sub-folder for each cemetery. In each cemetery folder, there are several sub-folders, with one being "Find A Grave Posted" that I move the originals to after I post them. Each file name is whatever is on the marker(last name first). The other sub-folders within the cemetery folders are pre-need, re-do, family.
Maybe all of that makes sense to you, but my "system" works works for me and I can find anything within a minute or so. Anyone else looking through it would probably curse me to no end.

Thanks for the superfast attention to my SACs. I also appreciate your offer to transfer them, but they are obviously in responsible hands.

Thanks for your quick response. I have found 2 more relatives, for which I would like management. They are Bernard Allen, 86347762, and Arthur J. Tindall, 86946836. I think that should do it for South Grove Cemetery. I will be adding some newer additions to the cemetery that I know of.
Thanks for all your help. Have a great holiday season!
