I am an 8th generation Durr from South Carolina. My family roots grow very deep into the soil of Orangeburg, Dorchester, Colleton, Berkeley and Barnwell counties.|
I've researched and traveled across the Lowcountry part of the state to where my ancestors settled, to dig into musty courthouse bins, rooted through libraries, and traipse cemeteries.
Even after many years of research, I am awed when I look at the old family tombstones, bible, land plats, Last Will and Testaments and keepsake pictures with so many lineages and thinking of the forklore of many generations past touches my heart.
Some of the families I research are; Durr, Ruple, Bell, Keitt,Salisbury, Murray, Weathers, Whetsell, Miller, Ayers, Way, Beach, Bozard, Strock, Dukes and Johnson.

My mother's sister is Jeannette Mann, #72891356. Would you consider transferring her memorial to me so that I can connect her to the rest of her family? Thank you for your consideration!

Herman, thank you much for the transfer of Timothy and Isabella's menorials to me. You did a great job of maintaining them for which I'm so apperciative.

What a delightful surprise! THANK YOU! I am so thrilled by your kind gesture. Blessings to you!
Thank you Mr. Durr for taking the photo of my great-great grandmothers tombstone. You have added another piece of the puzzle of my South Carolina family where my roots run very deep. I live in the North (grew up in Washington DC) and don't have much of a chance to come down to SC where my ancestors lived. I only have a picture of her daughter Beulah but none of her. It's good to know her headstone is in such great shape. Thank you, your contributions mean a lot to those who are actively putting together our family trees!! :) God Bless you!

I'm not sure why you transferred her to me but thank you. I was able to make the needed corrections.

Greetings, Herman, and thanks for what you do to support genealogical research.
Today, I submitted a change for Charlotte W. Turner's memorial. I found her date of death in a publication entitled DEATH NOTICES LISTED IN THE FAIRFIELD HERALD AND
THE NEWS AND HERALD, which I found on the Fairfield County Genealogy Society web site. Charlotte's death notice was published April 23, 1884...very simply:
Mrs. Charlotte W. Vann died on March 29, near Blythewood.

From bio on your profile, you are probably not related to these Walkers in Fairfield, but if so I certainly would like a bit of information on them. Thomas apparently married the younger sister Mary Emma Rhine first and then Cynthia A about 1890 even though it says on the 1900 census they were married 1871, Cynthia was single and home in 1880.
The info on the marriage and children is probably correct for Thomas Fletcher Walker, but not for Cynthia.
Thanks for making so many memorials and photos of stones for my extended family in Fairfield County.

|Jack Ruple, Sr.||tombstone of "John J"|
I once relied on this late placed marker for info ...
As you know, " John J." did not come from Germany.
What you may not know and I didn't discover til a couple of years ago when I did the article for OGSGS on gravemarkers is that "John J." is also wrong ... This immigrant son was born Johannes Roppel with no middle name as many GermanSwiss children had ....It was not uncommon to see both a Johannes (John) and a Johann (Jacob, Henry, etc). OUr immigrant in Orangeburg was simply Johannes per the church record.
PSA have a great 2016! and thanks for all your help in the past on this family!
