I enjoy visiting cemeteries, taking photos of the gravestones and statuary. I was so excited when I discovered the FIND A GRAVE website because I finally have a place to use the information I have been gathering. |
My special interests are my ancestors' families: McCorkle, Brandon, Locke, McLeod, Coleman, Yeomans/Youmans, Rountree, Gardner, Webb, Moore, Brashear, Pitts, Hall, Forney, Hoke, Bergner, Balfour, Abernethy, Givhan, Johnson, Mobberley, Potts, Pegram, Bumpass, Matthews, Perry, Coats, Jenkins, Dorsey, Pope, Chapman, Dixon, Porter, Sandifer, Dickinson, Loughlin, Wallette, etc.
Recently I have begun research of my husband's family and am interested in the Landrum, Carter, Pruitt, Redmond, Music, Wilkie and King families.
My profile photo is of the real "Little Marie." She was Marie Chapman Senyard, daughter of Mary Ethel Brashear and Dr. Oscar Chapman, sister of Elmo Mobley Chapman, and wife of Faye Senyard. She was my grandmother Alice McCorkle Coleman's first cousin, and, though I never knew her personally, I know that she, like many other members of our family, was very interested in preserving her family's history and heritage, as I am. I use her picture to honor her. This picture is courtesy of Moses M. Coleman, Jr., my father.
Much of the personal family info that I have been able to add to my family memorials comes from the book "Granny Bess" which contains historical info, letters, newspaper articles, and photos of the McCorkle, Brashear, Moore, Webb, Dorsey, Johnson and related families.
Two other excellent sources of information for Moore family research are the book "Rodeham Moore of Patrick County, Va - His Descendants and Known Kin" by Merle Moore, and The Association For The Descendants of Rodeham Moore. The Association is a national organization and has an internet web site.

If she is family or friend and you would like to maintain this memorial I will be happy to transfer it to your caring hands.
The "Very Best" to you and all yours, Bud

Click on my name and look at my virtual cemetery. You will find him and the links, I think, to Thelma and Margaret. Let me know if you find them. When my aunt did the Guthery books she listed names and dates but not always the place where they were buried.

She is the daughter of my great- great grandparents and was 22 at death. I visited Christ Church and located her parents and her grave. How are you related?
|Patricia Farmer||RE: William F Young|
I have tried to link each of the dead granchildren of William and Martha Guthery to their parents and to their siblings. I have 105 in a virtual cemetery. There are 4 still living of that generation. Do you have any info on Nolan Young? His first wife, Thelma, is in one cemetery. His name is on the tombstone with no death date. He is buried beside his 2nd wife, Margaret. Do you have any info on when they married and what her maiden name was?

Uncle Bill's death record has that his mother was Josephine Eubanks. I know that death certificates, tombstones, family Bibles can all have the wrong info. I think I will accept your edit but add this other info. Do you know the source for Melissa Eubanks? Was their a Josephine? I once found a man who ended up marrying 3 sisters. The first two died in childbirth. I think the 3rd outlived him.

You are very welcome regarding the picture. I felt the need to repay those who have done so much of this work before me. What is your Dad's name?
|Michael Yeomans||James Buchanan Yeomans|
James was my 1st cousin, 5x removed. Thank you for your work.

He was my greatgrandfather. I went to visit his grave today at Cherry Creek in Valdosta, Ga. He father always said he was buried at Cat Creek. I did not find any Andersons buried at Cherry Creek but found Nancy Anderson and Dock Anderson buried at Cat Creek. Can you give me the info as to how you found his burial at Cherry Creek? Thank you for your help. Your research has been very valuable for our family history.
Thanks so much for the photo of the headstone! I greatly appreciate it!
