Bio and Links
Bio Photo West Norwood Cemetery (WNC) is over 40 acres and some parts are covered in brambles and completely inaccessible. Ivy covered monuments can be seen sticking up through the undergrowth here and there.

Lambeth Council has an online database of re-used graves in West Norwood Cemetery. If you find your ancestors on this website, there will be no sign of their grave in the cemetery, and any grave marker on the plot will belong to the new owner.

I strive for accuracy but am not infallible. Corrections and additional information are welcome. Please use the Edit tab on the memorial in question.

For all other matters, I can be contacted by using the 'Edit' tab on this memorial, and then selecting 'Suggest any other correction or addition'.

Please respect the efforts of photo volunteers and do not steal photos. Most people will give permission if asked.

Writing in ALL CAPS equates to shouting, and is harder to read. If the shift key is problematic, all lower case is preferable.

Most questions will be answered by reading the FAQ, aka Help With Findagrave. Further clarification can be obtained by asking questions in the Findagrave Forums.

RE: Schmid family
Thank you for catching my mistake. I transferred them to St George Hanover Square, which is their correct place of burial.

Hi,

Thank you for the information about getting the picture up the right way.

I have done this with the burial stone and have now added it to both Ernest and Emily, the right way up.

Regards

Ian

Hi,

I have tried to rotate the image and each time it rotates it to exactly the same position. If you click on the image it opens it up the right way round. If you would like me to send you the image the right way up please send me your email address.

I am glad that I was able to help you with this. From what I was told by a gentleman at the church who knew the history said that he would have been a well thought of man from what the records showed.

Hi, I have sent you two photo`s through thr find a grave in my area.
They are buried together and the pictures I have sent is one showing the base and one showing he whole stone, I do have some others if you would like them, including the plate inside the church.I could not send them as the search a grave part does not allow more than on picture.
I hope that what I have sent you helps, the church where very helpful in finding this grave.

Regards

Ian

Alexander Smoker
Just like to say thank you so much for finding and taking the photograph.
Alexander Smoker is part of our family tree through my maternal branch. He was a very interesting man after learning so much about him, through my Fathers side of the Trowbridge branch. I found myself visiting the Tower of London as a guest after making enquiries, finding that Gilbert Trowbridge married and served there until his death, and to my amazement I found out that his father in-law after many years serving in India returns with his wife and family to become the Chief Warden of the Tower. I was taken to the Yeoman's Lodge and shown group photographs taken over the years of the Yeoman Guards such a memorable day for me
Kindest regards - thank you again
Mrs Daryl Chandler
